And the verdict is...

Lost makes a pretty good showing in Empire's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, coming in at #5. Sadly all of us who are Alias fans can agree with the comment that "Only time will tell whether it's as clever as it seems," but it's nice to see the show so highly placed.

I still haven't had time to cruise thru all 50 shows. I was looking for a list rather than having to click on 50 links, but couldn't find one.

"Lost" is a great show, but IMO, falls well short of the screaming brilliance and fast pace of "Alias". I'm always troubled by the teacher's pet treatment that "Lost" receives in comparison to the neglect thrown at "Alias". A glaring example is the captioned reruns shown this season prior to each new episode, giving viewers an annotated recap to prep them for the new episode. Each season has featured catch-up shows, which are basically hour-long advertisements for the series. No such luxuries were ever afforded "Alias".

It's impossible for me to reconcile how "The Sopranos" or "CSI:Anything", or for crying out loud, "Babylon 5" could creep in ahead of "Alias". I just shake my head in stunned (and bitter) disbelief.

I looked through all 50, and I have to say that whoever it was that made up that list has absolutely no TV-taste credibility with me. There is no way that a majority of those shows are better than... well, so many of the good ones that managed to get into the list, somehow.

I'm sure we all have our own list, but I will trust the judgment of Lost and Alias lovers.
