As they say friends, all good things must come to an end. Such is true for our favorite show. I know I won't have time today to do a proper write-up, but I don't y'all to have to hold your theories back, so let's hear 'em!! What did you think of the Lost finale?

Wow...well, what do you think folks? The last few weeks have been pretty interesting. Last week with killing off some beloved Losties (I still can't get over BOTH Sun and Jin...), this week finding out the history of Jacob and the "Man in Black," who we now know was his brother. We know Jacob's psycho mother and his brother are the Adam and Eve skeletons, that dead people appeared to the living as far back as their childhood (with their murdered birth mother), and that it's actually Jacob's fault for setting loose the Smoke Monster, who took the human form of his dead brother.

I can't help feeling a bit irritated at their mother's explanation of "The Light" that needed protecting. Is that supposed to be some sort of God entity down in the cave? And why would this pure light produce the Smoke Monster? I liked seeing the flashes of season 1 scenes with Jack and Kate finding the cave, I'm hoping they'll do that for the rest of the episodes to tie things together. But man, how are they going to bring it all to a close in no more than three hours left??

6.12: Everybody Loves Hugo

I don't know about y'all, but it only took about 2 seconds for me to recognize Dr. Chang's voice as the award presenter introducing Hurley in the first scene. Of course it would be him, why wouldn't it? :)

I really enjoyed seeing Hurley's scenes with Libby, they were very sweet. It's interesting how all these characters getting flashes from the Island-life are calling them "memories", which would point to Bonker's theory of their souls being sent back in time as kids, rather than a parallel reality (two existences of the same person).

I like how this and last week's episodes are starting to tie both realities together, somehow starting the wrap up to the end. Calm-Desmond on the Island still weirds me out, and I TOTALLY knew Flocke was going to throw him down that well. Interesting how their parallel selves mirror that by Desmond hitting Locke with his car. That really shocked me since it's so opposite Des' personality. I also was completely taken off guard by Ilana blowing herself to bits...woops.

BTW little bit of trivia, that dog in the pic from Hurley's slideshow is his dog in real life Nunu. :)

6.11: Happily Ever After

Ok, I haven't watched this episode yet (was out of town at a conference), but I heard it's a whopper! I wanted to post an article so y'all can start discussing. Feel free to spoiler-away as I won't be reading the comments until I've watched it.

Also if you have any pent up comments from 6.10 feel free to unleash them here. The only thing I remember wondering is what event led to Sun and Jin getting married as opposed to just being lovers? Obviously the lack of Jacob's involvement affected that somehow...

6.09: Ab Aeterno

Man, did Richard (or Eyeliner as my bf likes to call him) get the short end of the stick or what? That guy's had a miserable life, and an "eternity" (as the title translates) to endure it. I never once would have guessed Richard arrived on the boat as a prisoner, or that he tried to murder Jacob. Jacob's another guy who's mellowed out with age, he was pretty aggressive with Richard trying to prove he wasn't dead by almost drowning him.

So what did we learn? We learned that somehow the "man in black" a.k.a. Smoke Monster a.k.a. FLock is some sort of evil spirit that's been captured on the Island, which is keeping the evil (guarded by Jacob) from spreading into the rest of the world. MIB is stuck there as long as Jacob's alive and he can't kill Jacob himself, but we know as FLock he got Ben to do his dirty work. I have to say that Jacob sounds a little evil too though, constantly bringing people to the Island for his little social experiments—where they all always die. Jacob evidently can't forgive sin, or bring people back from the dead, but he can give eternal life/youth...so my question is WHAT is Jacob? I'm also really curious why the MIB is stuck looking like Locke. He can shape-shift as we know, we saw him trick Richard by turning into Isabella and baiting him to kill Jacob. So who was the guy whose body he was in before? Why is he in Locke's "body" but his body's still in the coffin? Did they give away any other info. I'm missing?

6.8: Recon

I got such a kick out of the surprise at the beginning of this episode. We see Sawyer in bed with a woman (shocker), doing the ole "you weren't supposed to see that" con when his briefcase of money pops open. But guess what, he was setting her up to catch her conman hubby, and his name ain't Sawyer. Nope, it's Detective James Ford of the LAPD, and Miles is his trusty partner. On James' date with Charlotte he told her he became a cop because it was his choice once he got to the part of his life where he'd either be a criminal or a cop. This means that in the other universe, Jacob's visit to his parents' funeral, giving James the pen to finish his letter to Sawyer, was enough to push him to the other side. Jeez, Jacob's such an enabler... Anyone else notice the guy at the police station looking for his bro was Charlie's brother? I didn't pick up on that right away, gotta credit my bf w/ that one.

It was a little painful seeing him go through the prison part of Hydra Island and see the cages where he and Kate first did the nasty. Her dress was even still there, ouch. We see UnLocke as a peacemaker again between Kate and Claire...I just can't decide whether he's good or bad. As the Smoke Monster he's a murderous demon, but he also always has some kind of explanation for his actions. Even his defense of why he lied to Claire about Aaron was believable...except for the fact that he's now driven her insane. I wish someone would ask her why she left and abandoned Aaron in the first place...

I had completely forgotten about seeing Widmore's sub two episodes ago, so that was a nice twist having them try to play Sawyer. That chick was asking way too many questions though, made sense that he called her out. I don't get why he automatically assumed Widmore wanted to capture/kill UnLocke, Widmore never actually said that did he? His enemy was always Ben, so I don't get that.

I have to say I'm pretty intrigued by next week's episode being about Richard...

6.07: Dr. Linus

As I've heard from many a Lost fan, this was one of the best episodes from this season yet. If you think about it nothing much actually happened in terms of action, but as a friend of mine pointed out, it was a very interesting character study for Ben.

Something I found interesting was as soon as parallel-Locke suggested that Ben go for school principal, I wanted him to get it. Even though Ben is such a hateful character, there's still something that also makes him a sympathetic character where we can understand where he's coming from. We've known for a while that Ben's only moral weakness is children. He was sent to kill Danielle, but couldn't once he saw the baby Alex. He was determined to kill Widmore's daughter Penny, but couldn't when her son came up on the boat deck. It's really no surprise that in the parallel world, Ben is a devoted and great school teacher. Because of that, I wanted him to be principal...I knew he'd do a great job. BTW it took a few minutes, but I finally realized the science teacher was another Lostie! He was the dude that blew up from the dynamite (referenced by Hurley further into the show). That was a good throwback.

It was also interesting seeing Alex again, and finding out she was somehow destined to have a close relationship with Ben, one way or another. It was surprising finding out Ben and his father did go to the Island, but left for some reason, and seem to have a fairly healthy father-son relationship.

Poor Richard, man I feel bad for that guy. We found out he came to the Island off the ancient shipwreck and feels like his entire life, however many centuries it's been, has been a waste. We also know for sure Jack has a purpose there because it seems he CAN'T die. His reunion with Sun at the end was a warm and fuzzy moment, I forgot they hadn't seen each other in quite some time since she didn't go back to the 70s with him. I also liked how Ilana forgave Ben and accepted him back with her group. I found the photo above quit stirring seeing him look like such an empty shell of a man, given how much power he used to have.

So Widmore's just off the coast...what do you think he's doing there??

6.6 Sundown

OK, someone help me out here...exactly what questions were answered from this episode?!? ABC was all "ooo we can't show you more than a few seconds of preview or we'll give everything away!!" At the end of the eppy I just sat there like "wait...did I miss something?" So please enlighten me if you know, cuz I completely missed that boat...

I think LOST has contained references to Christianity many times in the past, but it was pretty prevalent in this eppy (hello burning cross after the smoke monster invaded the Temple). Not to mention Dogen calling "UnLocke" (as I'm now calling him) evil incarnate himself, and him fulfilling that description by offering Sayid quite the temptation (Nadia alive again if he delivers his message). Anywho, the one nugget of info I found interesting was when Dogen told Sayid that Jacob had offered to bring his son back from the dead if he came to the Island. We know from last week's episode that Jacob was right, Dogen and his son are living happy and healthy in LA and saw Jack's son David's piano audition in the parallel uni.

A nice use of past characters, it was a surprise to see the lunatic who shot Alex as the mofia-ish loan shark who "roughed up" Sayid's bro. Guess that dude is just bad news no matter what universe you're in.

P.S. I will now forever be creeped out by Catch a Falling Star, thanks psycho-Claire. Man her face when Kate told her she had Aaron was scaaaaary!!

6.5: Lighthouse

I got into this episode a bit more than last week's. It was interesting finding out Jack had a kid in the no-plane-crash universe...of course we'll all be wondering who the mother is and if it's a fellow Lostie. If you remember from 1-2 seasons ago, Jack had to have an appendectomy on the Island, but in this universe he had it out at the age of 7. I wonder how that could have changed from the Island being blown up, so odd...

So can we all agree the Island Claire is a nutter now? I wonder if she actually got the "infection" Sayid has, or if she's just been brainwashed the whole time by the Smoke Monster/Christian/Locke "friend." I guess this revealed that the new Locke is the baddie now, since he lied to/brainwashed Claire as Christian and as her new "friend" about the Others taking Aaron. My bf called it that she was going to axe (literally) the Other dude even though he was telling the truth, but I didn't see that coming. It surprised me the same way I was shocked when Alex got shot in the head. I'm assuming Jin lied about the Others having Aaron to be sure that Claire would keep him alive to sneak into the Temple. Any other reason you think he lied?

The lighthouse was pretty cool. When they first showed the images in the mirror my bf thought it was a view into the alternate universe—which would have been pretty darn awesome. Ah well, a spyglass into their lives I guess will have to do. I totally didn't understand the preview for next week...we're only going to see seconds of the entire eppy? What do you think's going down at the Temple?

6.4: The Substitute Screen

So last night I experienced something I rarely encounter while watching Lost...about 40 mins into it I realized I was bored. I'm not exactly sure why, and according to friends I've chatted with I'm in the minority, but I just couldn't get into this episode. I think it may have something to do with my irritation that the Island "John" seems like a mean bully, and coming out of denial that the real John is dead. It makes me sad thinking about how much faith he has in the Island and his purpose there, and yet he ended up murdered with his identity stolen by the moody black smoke monster. :-| Who, according to Ilana, is stuck looking like Locke...for some reason.

Anywho, I did come across some questions that I'm hoping y'all can help me with. First of which, didn't Helen die of like a brain aneurysm or something? Perhaps that wouldn't have happened if she hadn't experienced so much stress with John's obsession w/ his dad...dunno. Also, she mentioned to John having a small wedding with her parents and his dad. If he's on good enough terms w/ his dad that she'd want him at the wedding, I'm assuming that means he didn't push John out a window...so why would he be paralyzed?

That's really about all I've got...yeah I wonder who the creepy lostboy-ish (no pun intended) looking character is. And yeah I wonder why they were all chosen and their last names scratched on rocks years before (supposedly by Jacob). Anyone else notice the numbers by the non-scratched off names match Hurley's numbers? But I don't know, I just didn't feel the usual "no it can't be over!!" feeling upon seeing the ending LOST on the screen. Thoughts?

6.1-3: LA X & What Kate Does

Well friends, we're back (albeit a bit belated)! I can say in my random musings about Season 5's finale I considered the bomb working and Oceanic 815 not crashing, and the bomb not working and them still being stuck on the Island. Never once did I consider both options happening at the same time! I was so confused when Kate woke up in the tree, I initially thought "wait...was that first scene a dream??" So now we seem to have parallel universes. The Losties who blew up the bomb seem to now be in "present time" on the Island, which I assume means in the same time as new John Locke, Ben, Sun and Frank (yay for Jin and Sun). I base that off Jacob visiting Hurley a few hours after Jacob was killed by Ben. The second universe is back in 2004 with Oceanic 815 landing safely in LAX. Oh and one other point, the Island, including Dharmaville and The Foot, is now at the bottom of the ocean. So now instead of flashbacks or flashforwards, we get to see what each character is up to in their respective universe.

It was fun seeing some of our old Losties like Boone and Charlie. Interesting how the Island being blown up has affected other parts of their lives—Shannon not being on the plane, and I also heard Desmond was wearing a wedding band. It sort of sucked seeing the folks whose lives improved on the island, like Jin and Sun and Charlie, back as their old selves. How strange that back on the Island Juliette told Sawyer that "it worked"...how would she know??

So now it seems we have an answer to what/who the Smoke Monster is. It seems that "spirit" of the man in black can take on any human form it wishes. It's now using the form of John Locke, but I believe we've also seen it as Jack's father Christian and Ben's dead daughter Alex (explains why Alex ordered Ben to follow the new Locke). What do you think was meant by the loophole comment though...is that because of him appearing as Locke, or manipulating Ben to kill Jacob? Does this mean Locke is now a bad guy? Funny how parallel Locke comes across Jack's path in L.A., it would be an interesting twist of events if Jack fixed his paralysis with surgery. On to the next eppy...

So parallel Kate is kind of a biatch, but at least she feels bad about it. I was so convinced that the adoption couple not picking up Claire at the airport meant they didn't actually exist. I remembered her psychic (or whoever he was) telling her to go on that specific flight because he knew it would crash and she'd have to raise Aaron herself, so I thought he made up the couple. It was pretty sad seeing the mom apologize to Claire, nice to see Kate come through as a friend though and take care of her. But how creepy was it seeing Ethan as her doctor?!?

Back on the Island it seemed as though the new Others were testing Sayid to see if he was possessed by the smoke monster. What do you think the poisonous pill would have done...kill the "monster" virus, or kill Sayid? It was heartbreaking seeing Sawyer mourn Juliette on the dock, but I couldn't help but wonder, where would he get an engagement ring in Dharmaville? Ah well, I digress...

So Claire seems to be the new Danielle/wild jungle woman. The Other leader (what was his name...Tokah or something?) said the "virus" consumed Jack's sister (meaning Claire I assume), so is she crazy/sick now? She did seem to recognize Jin...maybe...

EW's "Lost: 15 Must-Answer Mysteries" is a fun little photo article to look at. Harks back to some storylines I forgot about (like Adam and Eve) and reaffirms that other fans are wondering the same thing as me (seriously, eyeliner or what?).

So do you agree on what the other fans voted on? The only one I really don't agree on is #14. I cared when it happened, but I'll live if we never find out what was behind that...

5.16&17: The Incident pts. 1&2

Robetron had it right in the last post's comments, wow wow and WOW that was one hell of a finale!! I don't have time to write up a proper recap but wanted to get the post up here so people could start chatting about it.

Soooo many new questions...now we know Jacob is (was) a real "person" and Locke really did intend to kill him...but who is Locke?!? With his body still in its coffin, how is Locke walking around alive and well? And was he in the first place back on the beach w/ Jacob hundreds of years ago?

We now know the "incident" was not caused by the bomb, the incredible magnetic energy was unleashed before it went off (though Miles made me question whether that would happen). Now that Juliette successfully detonated the bomb, what's going to happen?!?

5.15: Follow the Leader

Sorry for the delay folks, let's get to it!

Right off the bat I'll put my foot out there and say that the 70s Losties are not going to change the future. My theory is based on a couple reasons, but mostly because of what we've seen happen since Dan started trying to alter events. The biggest is him telling Dr. Chang that he's from the future and Miles is his son, thus getting Chang to trust Miles' recommendation to evacuate the Island. We see the only way he can get his wife and baby Miles to leave is to order them (quite harshly) to leave, thus resulting in his mother's hatred of his father and Chang's abandoment of them. This wouldn't have happened in Miles' past if Dan hadn't told Change to evacuate everyone, so I don't see Dan's actions affecting the future. Any Devil's advocates out there?? :)

As for Richard's comment about watching the Losties die, yeah I'm pretty intrigued by that...John saving himself was pretty cool, definitely didn't see that coming. It's interesting how he likes to twist the knife into Ben everytime he experiences something from the Island "what, the Island never told you things Ben?" I'm also very interested to hear why John wants to kill Jacob.

The situation w/ Jack and Kate is hard, Jack's not even thinking about the life he'd be sending Kate back to if 815 lands as planned; convicted and jailed by her own mother. Not to mention the non existance of their relationship, which you can tell really hurt Kate. Juliette's instant wave of jealousy everytime she sees Kate is getting a little old, like on the sub, where's the confident unshakable Juliette we've known the last couple years?

So the finale is two hours which I guess techinically gives us 17 episodes? One word, stingy, but this season is arguably the best one yet IMO, so I guess I can't be too whiny. :)

5.14: The Variable

What an awesome episode!! There were many questions answered, but of course, even more were raised. Let's start with what we now know:

Eloise is in fact Dan's mom, I know I was one of the doubters of that being true. She also is the young Ellie we met on the Island in 1954. What I never saw coming is that Widmore is his dad! That was a major surprise, but it makes me wonder where he got the name "Faraday" from...

Dan did some kind of experimentation on himself for his research before he tried anything on Theresa, which evidently caused him to have a memory disorder (think Momento but not as extreme). As Widmore promised, the Island seems to have cured him.

Widmore was the one who planted the fake Oceanic 815 plane at the bottom of the ocean. Do you think his reason for doing that was just so he could make sure Dan got to go to the Island?

Desmond is going to be ok, whew! :)

Dan's further research has led him to believe that you can, in fact, change the past, which could result in changing the present/future. Evidently "humans" are the variable he hadn't considered before, so he thinks that if he can detonate the buried hydrogen bomb (to destroy the immense magnetic energy of the Island), this will negate anything that happened from that point on, including the 815 crash. We haven't seen anything to prove he's right, though, and we know that Eloise knew she was going to shoot her son back in time from what she said to Widmore about sacrifice. She could have easily told Dan not to go to the Others w/ a gun, therefore her past self would have had no reason to shoot him, so why didn't she? And why did he insist on talking to Eloise in the first place?

So now what? Are Jack and Kate going to try and do what Dan wanted and blow up the bomb? Neither one of them looked that excited about the idea of erasing the past. What would happen to them and the other Losties if it worked?

Other random questions, how is it no one ever mentions anything about Richard never aging? You'd think the Others would have realized it, there must be something about him connected to the Island. Why does Dan think his mom was wrong about Jack and Kate and the rest going back to the Island?

5.13: Some Like It Hoth

Blogger Robetron noted that this was a slow episode, which I agree with, but still fairly interesting. I like Miles, I think he's a good character (and well casted) and I liked learning more about him. More kudos are doled out to those of you that guessed Miles is Dr. Chang's son. I like that he knew all this time and didn't tell anyone until Hurley. I figured there would be this big "to do" if that theory of him being the doc's kid was true and he'd find out in some dramatic moment. It was a amusingly unexpected when he revealed the truth w/ the same drama as telling Hurley the weather forecast.

It's obvious from the few scenes we've witnessed that Dr. Chang loves his son and wife very much, so I'm very curious to find out what separates them and causes Miles' mom to hate the very memory of his father.

So who do you think grabbed Miles in the van? If they are against Widmore does that mean they work for Ben? The way that guy talked to Miles sounded like he was trying to sell him on some new spiritual faith or something. Then the phrase from last week comes up: What lies in the shadow of the statue. How would Sayid's bounty hunter lady know that phrase?

And we finally see the return of Dan. I didn't catch what Dr. Chang said about him other than there was a scientist returning. From the way Sawyer referred to him it sounded like Dan betrayed them in some way. Well we have 2 weeks to ponder that...

5.12: Dead Is Dead

Well, I think this is one of the, if not the most, strangest episodes of Lost in my memory. We learned more about Ben's true nature than we've ever seen before IMO. We saw more evidence of him being a pathological liar. It amazed me to hear all of the lies he spewed to so many people, whether it was about knowing John to Ceasar, or telling Sun he had no idea Locke would come back to life. I find it rather interesting that he has a soft spot for children, which is what ended up saving Penny's life. I don't get, though, why he stole Alex when his "mission" was to kill Danielle. I always figured the Others wanted her baby because it was successfully born on the Island, come to find out their leader at the time (Widmore) wanted to kill "it." I can't see how Widmore could ever really be a "good guy" now, he wanted to let young Ben die and wanted to kill an innocent baby, seems pretty cold and heartless to me.

I don't understand at all why the Smoke Monster would let Ben live. He's the most selfish and conniving character we've seen on the show, and I don't believe his true motive for what he does is for the "good of the Island." The flashes of his life in the smoke were a little cheesy, but he was definitely tortured by the memory of Alex and how his selfishness led to her death. Whether it was her ghost or the spirit of the Island acting through her, I liked her confrontation of Ben's intentions, plus it was nice to see her character again (probably the only other human Ben's ever really loved). Her message proves Locke's importance to the Island, which I found fulfilling in a way since John has been let down by everyone and everything he ever cared about in his past life. It's good to know his belief that he belongs there isn't unfounded.

5.11: Whatever Happened, Happened

So, yeah, y'all were right that little Ben's still alive. Arg.

I like that we're finding out what led to the Foundies being on that Guam-bound plane. In all my guesses about what happened to Kate, though, I never thought about her willingly giving up Aaron. I liked the return of Cassie's character, her ability to read right through and become friends w/ Kate. That scene with her saying goodbye to Aaron was definitely a tearjerker.

Back on the Island, I never would have expected Jack to outright refuse to save little Ben's life. That seems sort of contrary to his character, though I can understand his reasons. Taking Ben to the Others seemed like an odd out-of-the-blue solution to me. What do you think Richard's going to do to him to make him "lose his innocence" and "become one of them"?

I don't really have much more to say about this episode...it was interesting but didn't pack the punch the last few have. The preview for next week looked quite intriguing though...

5.10: He's Our You

WOW, WOW, WOW, my jaw about hit the floor at the end of last night's episode, I can't believe that actually happened!! This is the first episode this season that hearkens back to showing flashbacks of a character's past. It was interesting seeing Sayid as a kid, his nature seems much as it is today: he's a killer, but with the best intentions.

I really couldn't tell where this episode was heading until the end. When Sayid told James he had "found his purpose" in coming back to the island, I thought he meant getting killed in a shooting line would be a relief for him. But we saw throughout the episode the different ways Ben manipulated Sayid and others to his will and realizing the murders Ben had Sayid commit were only for the purpose of later forcing him to go back to the Island. It was funny that he asked the bounty hunter if they could catch the next plane after realizing all the Foundies were there.

I love that I didn't figure out who sent the burning bus until seeing young Ben creep out from the shadows. It just shows that even at the age of 12 he didn't care how many people he hurt or killed as long as he got his way. I had no idea what Sayid was up to when he knocked out Jin, only when he picked up the gun and admitted Ben was right about him being a killer did I start thinking "OMG he's gonna shoot the kid!" And he did, though you could tell it broke his heart to do it.

So what you think?? Does this change EVERYTHING that we know happens in the future? What will happen to current-Ben? Will the Dharmaites live or be wiped out by another traitor/Hostile?

5.09: Namaste

Wow, so many questions from this episode… Why wasn’t Sun sent back in time w/ the other Losties from the plane? Is she too jaded/semi-bad now for the Island to “want” her? Not that Ben didn’t deserve the conk over the head she gave him… How is it possible for her and Frank, Ben and the others to be on the same island in a different time period? How can the Island exist in two time periods at once??

I don’t know about y’all but it’s so odd seeing Sawyer/James/Jim/LaFleur as the leader, the go-to guy who figures things out. I liked that he called Jack out on the book thing toward the end, but that definitely shows that he still has quite a bit of hostility built up toward Jack. The awkwardness now between Sawyer and Juliet is hard to watch, sad considering how happy they seemed in the last episode.

How great was the end with Ben bringing Sayid his sandwich?! It took a second for me to realize it was young-Ben after hearing his pre-pubescent voice saying he was dropping off the sandwich. Poor Sayid, he has no freakin’ clue what’s going on, but he must have figured out he was back in time w/ the Dharma Initiative, and put two-and-two together when the kid said his name.

So now we have some perspective on the amount of time the Dharma folks have left. Ben was an adult when he gassed them all to death, so they prob still have a good 5-8 years left. I was wondering about the Dharma facilities Sun and Frank found and why they were so trashed since we saw the Others living in them comfortably. My friend suggested maybe the folks in Dharma-time change something in the future, or, she also reminded me about the freighter soldiers who were blowing houses up, maybe that’s how they left it…does anyone remember?

5.08: LaFleur

I thought this was a great episode and VERY interesting for many reasons. One of the biggest tidbits we learned blew my assumption I've been going on since last season that the people back on the Island did not experience the same three year absence that the Losties back in civilization did. It seems now that the only person who skipped the three-year difference is Locke.

Not only did the Islanders live those 3 years, they lived them around 1974 as members of the Dharma Initiative. In the previous post's comments, Robetron made some excellent observations of timing and events we've already seen (I'll copy his post into this comment section). First off THANK YOU for remembering that Horace was the dead guy in the woods Locke met. I KNEW I recognized him but couldn't place from where. Robetron also notes Robert's scraggly appearance when he meets Ben as a child as compared to looking like he stepped out of a J. Crew catalog when he confronts Horace, meaning that Ben is probably already on the Island and somehow working w/ the Others. I too remember noticing how clean cut Robert looked in this episode and wondered where the Others were living since they weren't yet in the Dharma facilities. Also interesting to see Amy successfully give birth (w/ Juliette's help) to a son...something the Others never were able to do. What happened between then and now that makes all the babies and moms die?

I think we all had guessed Sawyer and Juliette would hook up, but it was interesting to see the changes in his character. He really seems to care about these people, Amy, Horace, and his love for Juliette has brought out a sweet side of him we've never seen before. They truely seem happy together, I'm honestly a little sad to know that will be screwed with by the "Foundies" return (hehe I like that name). It will be strange for Juliette too given her past feelings for Jack.

As for past references to LaFleur, googling "Lost Lafleur" obviously gets us nowhere since that was the title of this episode, so that's all that comes up. Does anyone remember a past reference?

Just one final note, I was irritated we never learned why the Others shot Paul and were going to shoot Amy. Supposedly Sawyer and Juliette killing the shooters broke the "truce" between Dharma and the Others, but doesn't shooting an innocent couple who looked to be out for a pinic also break that truce? Why did no one bring that up??

5.07: The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

Well this is an interesting twist...so is Widmore actually a "good" guy??

It took me a bit to remember who the woman was questioning Locke on the beach, she was the cop who had Sayid in custody on the plane. So now we know that the 316 plane did in fact crash (because there are wounded survivors) and the Losties actually disappeared off of the jet when the white light occurred. Interesting that Ben is among the injured survivors and did not disappear with them...I guess that the Island only took peacefully the ones it really wanted. Like many of you guessed it would, the Island brought John back to life. It seems he is definitely meant to be there.

In the flashbacks we see Locke rescued by Widmore, who's now being portrayed much more friendly and pleasant than in the past. When Locke can't decide if he should trust him, Charles puts it plainly that he's never tried to kill John, something he can't say about Ben. Locke's interaction w/ Walt was the most interesting to me. Walt forsees in his dreams Locke on a beach in a suit surrounded by people who want to hurt him. I wonder what people those are? I wouldn't think the other crash survivors have anything against him. I'm assuming when he confronts Ben he'll just be like "oh I knew the Island would bring you back to life" or some crap like that.

Anyway, the driver getting shot was definitely a surprise, I figured it was Ben who pulled the trigger. As the scene in the motel room developed I guessed Ben would end up killing Locke, but it doesn't make sense to me why he tried to save him in the first place. And why did John fall for it?? Did he forget how Ben shot and left him for dead in the pit of Dharma corpses? It was an interesting twist though since last week it seemed he went through with the suicide with the note for Jack and everything.

What I'm still trying to figure out, though, is if Ben and Widmore are at war with each other, why did they both have the agenda of getting the Losties back to the island? Why did Ben pick up where Locke gave up and left off?

5.06: 316

Ya know what's funny, I didn't get to see Lost yesterday (recorded it) and was just saying to my coworker today how I enjoy TV episodes and movies that start out in the present/future with a scene and you have no idea what's going on (a la Alias - Truth Be Told), then they take you back and build up to that scene for the rest of the episode. We were chatting about Pulp Fiction which is what prompted that thought...and here again we have another example of this, beginning with the Lost trademark eye-opening closeup shot of Jack. The camera zooms out and we see that yes he is, again, on The Island. I went through that whole scene thinking it was Jack dreaming up until Kate asked "did it work? are we back?" or something like that.

One of the many things that interests me about the scene at the Dharma's Lightpost was that the gray-haired lady never actually admitted to being Dan's mom. She reacted when Des mentioned Daniel Faraday but she never referred to him as her son, she only said that she is "helping" as Dan asked. Might be nothing, just something that struck me...

Funny how both times Jack was tempted by the drink he had some sort of distraction to take him away from it. First was a never-before-mentioned granddad (nice for us Alias fans to see Lauren Reed's dad again ;-)), second was a distraught (but evidently horny) Kate on his bed. So here are the major questions raised from this eppy:

1. What happened to Aaron to make Kate want to go back to the island?
2. What chewed up Ben and broke his arm (did it have to do w/ Kate)?
3. What brought Sayid (who looked to be in custody) and Hurley to the airport and how did they know about flight 316 to Guam (and did it have to do w/ Ben...I'm sure it did...)
4. What happened to the plane and the rest of the non-Lostie passengers?
5. Last but certainly not least, what the hell was Jin doing in the new Dharma van in Dharma clothes?? I'm guessing this means they're back in the Dharma time of The Island...

5.05: This Place is Death

At long last, we see the return of the Smoke Monster! Well sort of...technically it happened in the past...but you know what I mean. I don't remember the last time we saw the SM, do you? Poor Danielle, man did she draw the short end of the stick. Friends being killed and dismembered by SM, then the ones left alive become brainwashed or "sick" as she called them. We definitely know for sure now that she wasn't making that up, since we witnessed w/ Jin her partner declaring his love for her, then trying to put a bullet between her eyes.

The reunion of Jin and Sawyer was cute, that was quite the genuine joy man-hug. :) So we finally got some answers about Charlotte's past, which should have been the tip-off that she was going to die. We never seem to learn any juicy details about anyone until the episode the character dies (remember Shannon?) Anyway, so Charlotte was raised as a child on the island, then ordered to leave and made to think she was crazy and had made up the island by her mom...nice mom. She said there was a "scary man" who told her to never come back or she'd die, and that man evidently was Dan. We know he goes back to Dharma time, we saw that briefly in the season opener. I'm guessing the next time flash will take them back to the Dharma period, and he'll see her as a child and scare the crap out of her then.

The interaction between Locke and Christian was...weird...not sure what else to say about that. Locke obviously doesn't keep his word to Jin by telling Ben that he's still alive and giving him Jin's ring. That was an interesting outburst from Ben in the van, he always remains so calm. I wonder if we'll ever find out "what he's done" to keep our Losties safe...from whom, Widmore? Thoughts?

5.04: The Little Prince

- What do you think is causing the nosebleeds among only some of the Island Losties? We know length of time on the island doesn't cause it cuz the newbies are affected and so is Juliette...
- who is sending people to kill Sayid from Kate's address?
- how awesome was Sawyer, it totally tore at my heartstrings to see the way he looked at past-Kate...
- Was it Robby who knew it was Ben trying to get Aaron from Kate? Awesome foresight there!!
- I/WE TOTALLY CALLED IT THAT JIN'S ALIVE!!! THAT WAS FREAKIN AWESOME!!
- I knew it was Danielle's boat when we saw the writing in French (yeah, dead giveaway)

5.03: Jughead

This was a great episode...granted I'm a little biased as a fan of Des, but there were many *gasp!* moments and little nuggets of info spread throughout. It was fun to find out Des and Pen have a son together (in prob the quickest birth ever documented), and there's the "aww" factor at him being named Charlie. :) It's odd Dan told him to find his mom at Oxford, I know Robetron suggested the theory that the woman from the jewelry store/church is Dan's mom and I think that's looking more probable now that we know she's in L.A. What do you suppose happened to the woman Des visited? Interesting to find out Widmore was funding Dan's research, and we knew he was testing it on mice/rats, but do you think he tried to send that woman through time and it screwed up her brain? Kudos to Des for having the balls to walk in on Widmore and confront him about it, though it seems out of character for Wid to just hand over that woman's address...there must be a catch...

Cute that Dan professed his love for Charlotte...not so cute that she ended the show w/ her brain hemorrhaging. I wonder why she's been affected by the time travel and none of the others have? With Locke we now have the chicken-and-the-egg scenario with Richard visiting him as a child, and seeing John tell him to do that two years before he was born. I don't really remember what happened when he visited other than showing him some objects and then abruptly leaving, anyone else remember something significant? I love that the edgy little brit-Other turned out to be Widmore, that dude is everywhere! But now we know he WAS on the island at some point...

One sidenote to end on, I didn't even notice that we didn't see Jack or Kate during this episode until I saw the preview for next week. It's definitely a credit to the writers to have created so much interest in SO many characters that you don't even notice when you don't see some of the main ones.

4.13 There's No Place Like Home (Part 2)

Sorry I missed posting about the last episode guys, but honestly I don't think it matters much considering the whopper of a finale we got last night. Again huge props to the writers...starting this episode 1 second after the ending of last season's finale flashfoward was genius. I remember coming to the conclusion that they didn't reveal who had died because it wasn't important, boy was I wrong.

There are so many questions I don't even know where to start, so I guess I'll begin with what we DID learn from the finale. We now know that Dharma knew about the "special properties" the island possesses and was experimenting with time travel in The Orchid station. Ben is still a heartless bastard, no matter how much sympathy was gleaned from the murder of Alex. He got his revenge on her killer knowing full well that would mean the deaths of everyone on the freighter. It broke my heart to see the boat explode with Jin running on the platform toward the helicopter and Sun practically jumping out to grab his hand, IMO those were some Emmy-earning screams she was belting out. I'm still in denial Jin's dead, but I guess that's how I felt about Charlie in last year's finale... As for Sun, I have no idea why she would ever want to partner w/ Widmore in the future knowing he was ultimately responsible for Jin's death. She's obviously become quite shrewd with time and must have something up her sleeve.

So when Jacob/Christian told Locke to "move the island," he really wasn't kidding. It was interesting seeing Ben lead up to the flashforward we saw a few episodes ago; him appearing out of no where in the desert with a bloody arm, now we know how and why he got there. It was also interesting to see how all the events played out to end w/ the Oceanic 6, because all season in my head I couldn't imagine how those specific people were the only ones who got off... Speaking of which, did anyone hear anything that Sawyer whispered to Kate before jumping?

The one moment of relief we got in those 2 hours was seeing Penny lean over the rescue boat's railing as Desmond looked up. Watching by myself I exclaimed out loud "it's Penny!!" and shed a few happy tears seeing them reunited. Of course I lost that feeling with Desmond's foreboding claim that as long as he's got Penny he'll be fine, knowing Ben is seeking to kill her.

One major thing I'm not clear on...why did the O6 have to lie?? In addition to protecting the island and it's people, which I get, did they think Widmore would kill them if they didn't? And why were they making up a name for Locke (which Hurley voiced on the boat) when they thought he was staying on the island? Ben's claim that Jack has to get all the survivors to go back to the island clears up Kate's dream where Claire tells her she shouldn't ever bring Aaron "back", which I think means back to the island. Why do they all have to go back, do you think they can go back in time and reverse all the horrible things that happened from the finale and on? I have a hard time believing this horrible future we've seen glimpses of all season is unchangeable for our beloved Losties...

4.11: Cabin Fever

Wow this was a bizarre episode. We got to see more flashbacks of John's past, and two main themes came across from them:
1. John is a miracle baby/man who has defied death on multiple occasions
2. The Island has been recruiting him since birth

We got to see the man who never ages looking in on him right after his birth mother ran out, and visit him years later to give some weird test that John didn't pass at that time (what the crap was all that about??)

On the freighter it seems the captain and the pilot are actually good people. The captain helps Sayid escape on a dingy after realizing the soldiers have a nasty second protocol, only to be shot by the their leader who then convinces the pilot to take them back to the island only by slitting the doctor's throat (um, does that mean now the island is in future time??)

In I think the weirdest ending ever, John finds Jacob's cabin and ends up talking to Jack and Claire's dad...guess she wasn't hallucinating after all. Her relaxed and almost amused demeanor was unsettling though, it was like she was brainwashed all over again. We've definitely noticed that Christian seems to be the tying factor to all of the Losties in some way, this seems to confirm that theory. Locke evidently finds out how to "save the island" from him and from the looks of next week's trailer our Oceanic 6 begin their journey home...along with their ill-fated destinies we've had glimpses of all season. Can their futures be changed somehow or is everything up to fate??

4.10: Something Nice Back Home

Dang, this season just keeps getting better and better! For once we see flash forwards of a happy time, after Kate's trial, to her and Jack living together, getting engaged, and raising Aaron. This goes back and forth with the present time on the island and Jack suffering through an appendectomy (which we obviously know he survives since the flashes are about him, so that drama was kinda pointless IMO). Of course you know with the episode starting out happy it won't end that way...

We progressively see Jack's downfall, which is sadly driven by Hurley's insanity and claims Jack shouldn't be raising Aaron and will get a visitor. Jack starts hallucinating that he sees his dad which spawns his drug and alcohol use along with mistrust of Kate, who he finds out has been doing some kind of "favor" for Sawyer. What we learn from this is the rest of the Losties "chose" to stay behind, as Jack put it, so does that mean none of them (including Jin and Claire) are actually dead? Something does seem to be wrong with Claire though, who throughout the episode is dizzy, woozy and at the end sees her (and Jack's remember) father and goes off into the woods w/ him, leaving baby Aaron on a tree root. I mean the girl's house was blown up, seems crazy to think she'd walk away unharmed, so I'm thinking there might be some kind of internal head wound or something... :-\

Other interesting events in this eppy:

The helicopter pilot saving Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and the ghost dude from the crazy freighter soldiers
Jin talking some serious smack to Charlotte in Korean
Juliette seeming like a total beeatch by telling Kate Jack kissed her, then redeeming herself by stating she knew it was to prove he was actually in love with Kate
Kate adamantly calling Aaron her son, which I also noticed in the episode w/ her trial...I mean she says it like she really gave birth to him, just seems odd...

4.9: The Shape of Things to Come

Whoa! That was my reaction to this episode, very mind blowing. I'm not going to do a "recap" really since they can be rather lengthy (not to mention boring at times), so I'm just going to point out the events I thought were most interesting and my reactions, so I'd love to hear yours!

Kate being Ms. Flirtypants w/ Jack again doesn't surprise me, but was does is Jack's inability to diagnose his own health problem, which according to the next eppy's trailer, is appendicitis. There's some definite weirdness with them finding the freighter's doctor w/ his throat cut but back on the boat they claim "the doctor is fine", huh? We finally see what they're capable of though, bombing Claire's, shooting random people, but I never ever thought they'd actually kill Alex. I had the same reaction as Ben, jaw dropped, wide eyed, complete shock. That poor girl! Turns out we were all wrong thinking Ben planned the murder of Carl and Danielle, it really was the crazy freighter people, and they are just as dangerous as Ben claimed they were. Oh, and I give some major hero props to Sawyer, who rescued Claire and stood up for Hurley and his curly head, bravo!

Getting to the flash forwards, we don't see how Ben ends up in the middle of the Sahara desert, but it sure looked to me a lot like when Des has his time traveling spells. He seemed to just appear out of no where w/ an arm injury and waring a Darma jacket, but he's definitely resourceful and seems to be able to get around no matter where in the world he is. We finally get the picture of how Sayid comes to work w/ Ben, wonder why the Widmore crew decided to murder his wife though. The thought just occurred to me that maybe Ben set all that up, just to get Sayid to be his assassin, what do you think? The episode ends with Ben confronting Widmore and declaring he's going to murder his daughter the way Widmore murdered his...bad news for Des and Penny. :(

So what did we learn in this eppy?
- Ben knows how to control and call the smoke monster
- The freighter people never intended to rescue the 815 survivors and are cold hearted murderers

What else gang?

Season 5 rewind

I'm posting these observations on behalf of our loyal blogger Robetron. Some very interesting points to muse over in our Lost hiatus! -SRG

I just went back to watch this seasons first and second episodes. I noticed some things that I didn't catch before.

A. There may be a problem with the "different reality/ nightmare" scenario. In episode 1, we are shown on a TV screen that someone was in a high-speed chase in an old orange camaro (which, we eventually find out is Hurley because this is his flash-forward). What we only get a brief glimpse of is that the watcher of that TV is Jack, it is early in the morning, and Jack is making himself a Screwdriver with orange juice and Absolute Vodka. He begins to nurse the drink before noticing Hurley's antics on TV. This would damage the view that Jack was "just fine" in Hurley's flash-forward, as opposed to his own flash-forward where he was a raging drunk. I think Hurley's flash-forward was further back in time than Jack's, and that Jack was only in the process of his alcohol-induced problems.

Later, when Jack pays Hurley a visit in the mental institution, they discuss whether or not Hurley would "tell." I think they made it off the Island, but left everyone else alive on the Island and swore never to reveal it. This also is when the idea of "going back" was introduced to Jack. Hurley was way ahead of him, and suggested it. I don't know why, but it does seem to be the moment when Jack started to think about it, which of course, made him drink more, bringing him to the point of near lunacy and suicide.

B. Later, in Hurley's flash-forward, a thin black man claiming to be a lawyer for Oceanic Airlines paid Hurley a visit. We do not discover much about him, but we get the sense that he is lying throughout the interview, until he reveals himself to believe that the rest of the Losties are still alive on the island, and Hurley freaks out about it. Then he disappears. Weird and mysterious, but not enough information for us to really think about it.

Come forward into episode two where we get to know how the crew on the helicopter came to be a part of their "expedition." Naomi is protesting the selection of an untrained crew, and the guy who is convincing her is none other than --

--the guy who so disturbed Hurley in the mental hospital. He was working for (as we know now) the man who is funding the ship and the craziness of trying to capture Ben Linus as well as locate the island: Mr. Widmore. now there is an unexpected twist. Mr Widmore was having his lacky interrogate Hurley in the future to see if the other Losties were still alive. That means that somehow, the "Oceanic 6" got back to the real world without letting anyone on that ship know anything about the other Losties, or the location of the Island. Maybe they forcably took Mr Widmore's ship away from the captain? I dunno, but this is very revealing!

Lost makes a pretty good showing in Empire's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, coming in at #5. Sadly all of us who are Alias fans can agree with the comment that "Only time will tell whether it's as clever as it seems," but it's nice to see the show so highly placed.

4.8: Meet Kevin Johnson

Yay I finally got to watch last week's episode! I'll tell ya, we have some very intuitive and smart bloggers on here. First Paul calls Michael out as the spy, then Robetron guesses that Widmore could be behind the 815 fake wreckage. Bravo! Katie posted that she's not completely convinced that is what REALLY happened instead of Ben staging the whole charade, and I agree, we can't trust any of the sources we've heard both tales from. Michael definitely went along w/ that story rather easily, but then again he had tried to shoot himself in the head only to have no bullet come out after Island-guy told him he couldn't die. Guess I'd be willing to believe that guy too...

So basically the entire episode showed that Michael's life has completely sucked since he got off the island. I agree w/ Robby that it was not great having the entire episode be a flashback, I'm a fan of the back and forth, but it was interesting to see why Michael ended up on the freighter working for Ben, the most manipulative SOB I've ever seen. Speaking of which, I agree that Ben set up Carl and mommy dearest to be taken out, poor Alex. She obviously thought it was the freighter people shooting at them, IDing herself as Ben's daughter in defense, but I'm pretty sure it was the Others doing Ben's orders.

I also like seeing old characters in the flashbacks, like Libby and Naomi, it's like a little surprise treat since our mindset is they're dead. Guess it will be another month before the next new episode, sigh. What shall we do till then folks?

4.07: Ji Yeon

Ok I don't have much time but still wanted to put up a post because this was a great episode! First off, MAJOR kudos to blogger Paul who posted his theory two weeks ago that Michael was Ben's spy. It was no surprise at all to see the freighter janitor "Kevin" come out of the shadows at the end and see Des and Sayid's stunned faces as they looked upon their betrayer, Michael.

Well friends, we now know the identity of the final member of "Oceanic 6" is Sun. This episode was a bit confusing at first because we knew there was only one more survivor, yet the time flashes showed both Sun going into labor and Jin on his way to the maternity ward. I had a hunch that we were seeing two different time periods, which was confirmed at the end when Jin discloses his trip to the hospital is to represent his employer and earn some brownie points with a business associate, obviously in the past, while Hurley visits Sun and her new baby daughter, Ji Yeon, and take a trip to Jin's grave in the future. That last scene with her talking to his grave just broke my heart, and I'm sure part of it is because I have a personal association thinking about my sister who just had a baby last week and imagining her going through all of that without my brother-in-law. What makes it even more tragic was Juliette spilling the beans to Jin about Sun's affair, and him forgiving her and their loving reconciliation. He promised she'd never lose him, yet we see her facing a future alone as a single parent. I've wondered since we've started seeing the flash forwards if the rest of the 815 survivors somehow perished, leaving only the 6 survivors, or if they stayed on the island. I guess now we have our answer, but it begs the question of how did he/they all die??

Moving on to the freighter, there was some weird-ass stuff going on there. We learn the crew is going nutty one at a time, including a woman jumping off the boat covered in chains to ensure her sinking, and a mysterious blood stain on the wall that Kevin/Michael was ordered to clean up. The captain was surprisingly willing to talk to Des and Sayid, and relayed the story of finding the 815 black box along with ALL of the passenger bodies. He confirmed his orders come from Mr. Widmore, which took Des by surprise, and also told them the Ben is suspected of staging the fake plane wreckage. The captain asks the same questions we've been wondering... where did Ben get the money and resources to stage such a hoax, and where did he get that many dead bodies??

4.6: The Other Woman

Sorry for the late posting folks, let's get to it. It seems that last week's eppy with Desmond's time traveling to the past was a segue into this week's being a trademark flashback episode about Juliette. At first when she's talking to the therapist it sounds as though she got off the island and is discussing how it feels to be hounded by the public as a "celebrity" (possibly as one of the Oceanic 6). We soon realize that the scene is actually back from the time she first came to the island as their hopeful doctor. The story unfolds of her engaging in an illicit affair with Goodwin, the husband of her therapist, whose doomed fate was determined by Ben sending him to infiltrate the "Tailies" group. Juliette realizes Ben purposefully sent him to his death so she could no longer be with him, and when she confronts Ben about it he responds that "you're MINE" (sort of like a 3-year old but in a much creepier way). It's obvious Ben will stop at nothing to keep Juliette to himself, and she confesses to Jack that she fears for him since Ben knows of her feelings for Jack. I've been a Kate-Jack "shipper" from the beginning, so it just looked weird to me to see him kiss Juliette, anyway...

Mystery surrounds Dan and Charlotte since they silently left the beach on some secret mission. As it plays out, it actually does seem like they might be "good guys" since they neutralized the large container of toxic gas that could have killed everyone on the island. Ben tried to convince Juliette to kill them first, but it seems maybe he just wanted to save the gas for his own uses. He also played Locke into setting him free by showing him a video of Penny's dad beating one of the Others, claiming he's the owner of the freighter and an enemy of the island. It can't be a coincidence that Mr. Widmore is somehow associated since Des has been on the island, do you think he's trying to keep Penny from finding him? I can't figure out why else he'd be behind it all. The mini-cliffhanger is that Ben tells Locke who his spy on the freighter is, I think blogger Paul's theory that Michael's the spy could be dead on, maybe we'll see next week.

4.5: The Constant

One word for this episode: trippy! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, flashing back and forth with Desmond's consciousness from 2004 to 1996 and back. Knowing every time it happened he was closer and closer to death from a brain aneurysm.

We learned for sure what was already hinted at; the island exists in it's own time portal where a day and a half amounts to only an hour or so in the "real world" (which makes me wonder if they've really been lost as long as they think they have). The reason for this is supposedly the island's abnormal magnetic properties, that can cause people to time travel if exposed to a large amounts of the magnetism. This happened at the end of season 2 when Des turned the island key to relieve the extreme magnetic force set off by not entering the computer code. His time traveling, which foretold of Charlie's death last season, became accelerated aftering being on the chopper that went through the storm front and came out in the "real" time. Desmond's memory from the last 8 years was suddenly erased and he had no idea what he was doing on the boat or who anyone was, including Sayid. Going back and forth between his time in the military and being in the sickbay on the freighter, Des had to make his way to Oxford to find the physicist Dan in 1996 and learn how to stop the time traveling. Dan said he had to find something (or someone) his consciousness could emotionally attach to in both time frames, and thus keep him in the present. This "constant" ended up being Penny (shocker), who he was finally able to call from a phone Sayid constructed on the exact date he promised her in 1996. They declared their love for each other and Penny swore she would find him as his power source ran out and the phone died.

For all of the excitement this episode contained, I was actually a little disappointed w/ the ending. I just wanted something more, somehow, I don't know, maybe it was a little too "Disney" for me. Considering the previous two episodes had awesome surprise endings this one was just kind of, eh... Next week's looks exciting though!

4.4: Eggtown

Ok, looks like ya'll are still interested, so let the blogging continue! :) This episode was AWESOME, for those who haven't seen it you prob shouldn't read this post because there will be SPOILERS and you don't want to miss the fun of being shocked!

I laugh at myself because I think I react to the surprises exactly like the writers intend. The first shock was the flashfoward of Kate where she demands her trial lawyer not use her son in the courtroom to gain sympathy. That made me sit up straight as my eyes widened questioning "what son??" I figured she must have had a kid we didn't know about before the crash, then it became clear that they were steering us toward believing she and Sawyer had a baby. To build character they had Jack testify on her behalf, which wasn't a huge surprise, but the boldface lie he told on the stand was. He lied about Kate nursing them back to health to make her look good, but why did he say they crashed in the water and only 8 people survived? We figure he doesn't want to visit her "baby" because he doesn't want to be reminded of her and Sawyer, but the last scene of the episode turns that around when we realize this "baby" is much older than we figured and says "hi mommy" to which she replies "hi Aaron." ... This led me to one conclusion: that something happens to Claire on the island, which is too painful for Jack to confront, and she makes Kate Aaron's legal guardian. It also took me back to last season's finale where she says to Jack that "he'll be wondering where I am." I figured she meant Sawyer or whatever guy she was with, but now I think she was referring to Aaron.

Some interesting thoughts to chew over, one of my coworkers (who I'll call CS) pointed out that all the flashforwards we've seen have shown the losties in their worst nightmares. Jack becomes a drunk just like his father, Hurley goes back to the nutter house where he swore he'd never go, Sayid becomes a killer which he never wanted to do in the military, and Kate gets stuck in one place for 10 years on probation and is a mother when we know she liked to move around and had no motherly intentions when talking to Claire. Speaking of which, do you think Aaron is considered one of the Oceanic 6 even though he wasn't born until after the crash? Also, the psychic told Claire she has to raise the child or there will be some nasty consequences, so what happens to him now that Kate is raising him? Lastly, what happened to Sayid and the helicopter??

4.3: The Economist

I didn't get to watch this eppy until last night. I was told by friends it was a shocker, and they were damn right! In addition to a short recap (I'm assuming ya'll have seen it), let's talk about what we know so far and what new questions this episode raised.

In this episode's opening it looks like Sayid maybe got lucky in his fate, as we see him well dressed and playing at an exclusive golf club. We soon learn that he's not there for fun, but to murder a fellow player, a man somehow associated w/ the Oceanic crash. He's become some sort of hitman and we have no idea why or who he's working for.

Back on the island, part of Jack's crew goes to the Others' Barracks to get back Charlotte. Among other things, Sayid finds a hidden room in Ben's house with a bunch of passports and clothes. He and Kate are tricked into becoming hostages of Locke, though Sayid convinces Locke to let him and Charlotte go by giving him Miles for questioning. All the while Dan performs some strange experiment with the offshore freighter people, who launch a torpedo-looking thing right to their location. On the ship they read that it reaches them way before they receive it, and when they finally do the clock inside is a half hour ahead of the one Dan has. When Sayid returns w/ Charlotte, the pilot agrees to fly him, Desmond and Naomi's body back to the freighter. In the flash forward we see Sayid, who was shot by his lover while using her to get to her boss, stumble into an operating room. We hear the doctor's voice who's taking care of him, and eventually shockingly recognize him as Ben. Sayid says "they know I'm coming after them now" to which Ben replies "good."

OK, now for the questions/theories, etc! We now know 4 (or maybe 5?) identities of the rescued, and ill fated, "Oceanic 6."
1. Jack
2. Kate
3. Hurley
4. Sayid
5. Ben?
I question whether Ben is part of the 6 because he technically was not on the Oceanic flight. My theory is that he somehow gets off the island secretly and we still have two more 815 survivors that will also make it off. The odd thing is that Ben now comes off as some sort of a "good guy" and Sayid is killing these people to protect "them" who I'm assuming is the rest of the Oceanic 6. I also wonder how the bracelets come into play that both Naomi and Elsa were wearing...they somehow associate them w/ whoever Sayid/Ben are killing off.

On another note, it looks like the island is in some strange time dimension according to Dan's experiment. Why did the launch show up a half hour after it was recorded as landed? What other questions did you guys come up w/?

4.2: Confirmed Dead

I have to give props to the writers of Lost. It amazes me how every season they come up w/ different ways to introduce new characters. In "Confirmed Dead," we get a unique glimpse at the not-so-distant past of four people as they find out about the discovery of Oceanic 815 under water with ALL passengers confirmed dead. These four people; Dan - a not-so-stable physicist, Miles - a communicator with the dead, Charlotte - an anthropologist who finds a polar bear skeleton in the desert w/ a Dharma Hydra collar, and Frank - a pilot who was supposed to have been on 815, all somehow end up on a mission to the island with Naomi, and we learn rescuing any 815 survivors is not their primary objective.

Jack and Kate happen upon the first of the quartet after their helicopter is hit by lightening and they parachute out over different parts of the island. Dan is wishy-washy to say the least about why he's there, and they get suspicious after they see he has a gun tucked in his belt. When they find Miles he's immediately hostile, pulling his gun on them and demanding to see Naomi's body to confirm Jack and Kate's story that they didn't kill her. Sayid and Juliette meet up w/ them in the forest, and they all find Frank...along w/ his undamaged helicopter. Frank realizes that Juliette wasn't part of the 815 flight roster and IDs her as a "native." This prompts immediate anger from Miles who demands she tell them where "he" is and shoves a photo of Ben in her face, thus explaining their true purpose in coming to the island.

Locke and his crew find Charlotte, who's quite friendly at first, but after realizing they don't want to be found she tries to run and Ben, who stole Karl's gun, shoots her twice in the chest. She survives since she had on a bullet proof vest, but Ben's attempt on her life confirms to the rest of the group that it's time to take him out. Locke is poised for the execution, and Ben in desperation, starts rattling off Charlotte's life story to the shock of everyone. He says he knows they're there for him, and explains his knowledge comes from his "man" on their boat.

So one big question is how could all the passengers from 815 be confirmed dead when we know for a fact many survived? Why was there a body in the pilot's seat that Frank identified as NOT being the pilot? Why have these people come for Ben, and is rescue a reality now that they have a working helicopter? Do we even want to see them rescued when we've had glimpses at their somber futures?

4.1: The Beginning of the End

Welcome to season 4 my friends! So who else was pissed at ABC for flat out lying about a "2-hour premiere?" Alright, now that I have that off my back, let's get to it. As many suspected, it looks like season 4 is going to show us flash-forwards of the Losties instead of flashbacks. This time we see Hurley's fate, where he's haunted by Charlie's ghost and perfectly happy to be back in the nut-house. One thing that struck me was when he was arrested he kept saying "don't you know who I am? I'm one of the Oceanic 6!" So this begs the question, who, other than Jack and Kate, are the other 3 that were rescued? What happened to the rest of them?? Charlie tries to convince Hurley "they need him" but we don't know who he's talking about and what they need from him, and when Jack visits him he asks if he's going to "tell", again we don't know what. Nothing like starting out a season w/ a handful of more mysteries to wonder about.

Back on the island, the Not-Penny's-Boat people are on their way to "rescue" everyone, but it's obvious there's something else going on. Hurley gets lost in the jungle and happens upon Jacob's house and a creepy-as-hell scene where the house appears no matter where he goes and Locke finds him. Locke is able to convince many of them that they are in danger from the boat folk, but Jack and Kate stick it out by the plane wreckage long enough to hear a helicopter fly over and encounter a parachuter who IDs Jack. Who are these people and what do they want? The next episode is called "Confirmed Dead" which is quite foreboding, any predictions?

3.22 Through The Looking Glass

JJ just loves his Alice in Wonderland references doesn’t he? Well let’s dive in, this was a whopper of a finale. Get comfy, it’s a long one. :)

The flashbacks throughout the whole 2 hours show a different Jack than we’ve ever seen. For one, he’s bearded (not a fan personally), we see him doing a lot of drinking, taking prescription drugs, driving when he shouldn’t be and stumbling around. He sees an obituary in the newspaper that upsets him to the point of almost jumping off a bridge, but he’s stopped when a huge car accident occurs behind him and his doctor instincts kick in. He ends up saving a mom and her little boy from the burning wreckage, but does not think of himself as the hero the news and public considers him to be. This whole time we’re never let in on who the obituary was for and what’s pushed him to this brink of depression.

Back on the island our survivors prepare to depart from their camp and set their plan in motion of tricking the Others getting blown to bits. Sayid, Jin and Bernard stay behind as the shooters, and Sayid makes Jack promise to keep moving toward the cell tower no matter what happens. Down in the Looking Glass hatch, Charlie’s beaten for information and reveals that he found out about the underwater hatch from Juliette. The women on duty warn Ben of Juliette’s betrayal, but it’s too late to tell their beach attackers they’re being set up. Two of the three tents are blown up as planned, but Jin couldn’t get a clean shot at the third pile of dynamite and all three end up captured by the surviving Others. Everyone with Jack knows something went wrong when they don’t see the third explosion, so Sawyer and Juliette head back to the beach to see what went wrong (but not before Juliette gives Jack a lingering kiss in front of Kate). You can tell it bothers her, and later when Jack defends Sawyer’s refusal of letting Kate go back to the beach, he admits the only reason for is defense is because he loves her. They keep hiking, Roussoe tells Jack they’re close to the tower, but right after that they’re intercepted by Ben and Alex.

In the mean time we find out, in the most bizarre scene of the episode, that Locke isn’t dead. Yup he’s shot in the ditch, but his eyes open and he finds he’s paralyzed once more. He’s about to shoot himself when (a much older) Walt appears to tell him to get up because he has work to do (anyone else see the Biblical references in that?) Desmond swims down to the LG after coming under fire from eyepatch dude, who also scuba dives down to them. Eyepatch gets orders from Ben to kill everyone down there to prevent the jamming signal from getting turned off, so he kills one of the women, shoots the other in the back, then gets a surprise dart in the chest from a hiding Desmond. Before she dies Charlie convinces the woman of Ben’s betrayal and in her dying breath she tells him how to shut down the jamming signal.

Ben pulls Jack aside and tries to convince him that Naomi isn’t with Penny’s rescue boat as she claims, calling their boat will kill everyone on the island and to bring him her radio. When Jack refuses Ben tricks him into thinking the beach captures were killed from that decision. Jack beats Ben to a pulp, doesn’t tell the group about the “killings” but brings a tied up and bloody Ben along. At the same time Ben admits to Alex that Roussoe is her mother. Back on the beach Hurley saves the day by literally driving over one of the Others w/ the VW van, allowing Sawyer and Juliette to take control of the situation. (When Sayid broke his captures’ neck w/ his feet I seriously said holy sh*t! outloud, that’s hardcore!) Through the walkies the hiking group hears their friends are safe, everyone except Charlie and Desmond. Charlie successfully shuts down the jamming signal, and is instantly connected to a broadcast from Penny. He tells her Desmond is alive and so is Naomi, but she has no idea who Naomi is. Before Desmond can talk to her, Eyepatch appears out the porthole with a grenade (that guy never dies!!). Charlie blocks off the door, but the explosion blows the window and quickly floods the room. He lets Desmond know it’s “not Penny’s boat” they’re trying to call, and sadly Desmond’s vision comes true of Charlie drowning (I’m still in denial about him dying).

Naomi sees her phone connection is working, and just as she’s calling her boat she gets a knife in the back from Locke. He also warns Jack not to make the call, but the phone connects and it looks like rescue is on their way. Once again we see bearded Jack, at home sitting on the floor surrounded by maps. He makes a mystery phone call to meet someone by the airport. Suspense builds as to who he’s meeting, to my shock we see Kate get out of the car. The sickening truth sinks in that we haven’t been seeing flashbacks, but flashforwards. Jack informs her of the obituary, I can only guess it was one of the survivors who died but we never know who. Jack crazily rants at Kate that they need to go back to the island, they were never meant to get off, she quietly says “yes we were” and leaves him.

So this is the depressing future that awaits our Losties if they get off the island. Obviously Kate and Jack don’t get together, he becomes a drunken bum who flies on a weekly basis hoping his plane will crash again on the island. What happens to make Jack so sick with longing for the life they had on the island? Who is Naomi with, and is Ben right that everyone will die if they come? Can this glimpse of the dismal future somehow be changed?

The end is near...

When Lost returned to the airwaves earlier this year, it seemed there wasn't much interest in the weekly recaps. There have, however, been a few recent requests to bring back our fun recap discussions, so I wanted to let you all know that a recap for the season 3 finale will be posted. This episode is why we watch Lost my friends! We haven't had a lot of traffic on this blog lately and I actually wasn't going to do a recap this week, but I just had to since it was so good! In Claire's backstory we get a look back on her teenage days as a black haired eyeliner-wearing punk. We get another connection involving Jack's dad, but it's extremely unexpected. Get this: Jack's dad is Claire's long lost dad! That's right, Jack and Claire are half-siblings as a result of a fling, but the chances of them ever realizing this are slim since Claire doesn't even know her dad's name. Sadly her dad's identity only came out after a tragic car accident that left Claire's mom comatose and living off machines. Jack's dad tried to convince her that keeping her mom alive that way wasn't really living, but we see Claire visit her mom in the hospital years later right before the Oceanic flight 815 trip, so we know at least as of then her mom was still "alive."

Another interesting part of this episode was Jack's rescue team finding the Others' barracks and getting past the deadly security gate. To test whether the eye-patch guy is lying about the gate not working, John grabs and throws him between the huge sensors, which causes some sort of sonic blast that kills him by a cerebral hemorrhage (coulda done w/o the squirting blood from his ears, ick). The group manages to form a tree bridge over the sensors and come up on the actual barracks. Kate sees Jack running toward them and wants to shout out but is stopped by Sayid. Jack keeps running, but then we see he's actually playing football w/ one of the Others and seems to be enjoying himself. The look of betrayal on Kate's face is priceless when she realizes this.

Next week we FINALLY get to see the John backstory we've been waiting for and find out why he was in a wheelchair, can't wait!

I apologize folks, I don't have the time to write a proper snynopsis of this episode, which for me was quite enjoyable, but I'd still love to hear your comments. Here's a short overview of what we learned:

- Sayid is a chef, who knew? (man it was good to see him and John again)
- The "hostiles" (aka Others) were never part of the Dharma Initiative and were on the island way before Dharma. This makes sense since Ben said he'd been on the island his whole life and he has to be near 40.
- The Others are hiding some kind of huge secret that they're willing to die before telling, which was evident from the lady instructing eye-patch-dude to kill her. It was kinda funny to see Kate clock her a good one before that happened though hehe
- The Dharma people knew about the "hostiles" and therefore built in self destruct explosives into their stations. My question is, why are there still planes flying by dropping off Dharma food if they know their stations were attacked?

Tricia Tanaka Is Dead

As one of my friends who is a fellow Lost fan put it, this was a filler episode. Really the only important event happened at the very end. There's not much to reflect on with Hurley's continued backstory, though it was kind of funny to see Cheech as his father. We found out his dad left him around the age of 10, introduced him to forbidden candybars (bastard) and only returned after Hurley won the lottery. Vincent led Hugo to finding a flipped over Dharmamobile which he somehow knew would give him hope if he could get it running. Sawyer, who had his share of humorous quips throughout the eppy, Jin, Charlie and Hurley all bonded after pushing the van down a hill toward rocks and it miraculously starting up at the last possible moment. Meanwhile Kate is determined to rescue Jack and goes off on her own only to be followed by Sayid and John. They catch up to her right as she enters Danielle's dwelling, who is stunned when Kate tells her a 16-year old girl named Alex helped her escape the Others. Next week it looks like we get to see who the dude w/ the eye patch is, and John evidently does something crazy (wouldn't be the first time). That's about it, short and sweet. :)

Stranger in a Strange Land

Ok so I ended up watching the episode last night after all. We learned the source of Jack's tattoos and the weird form of a judicial system the Others have, but not a whole lot else. Here's a summary:

- Jack had a relationship while on vacation with a woman who claimed to be some sort of tattoo-fortune teller. For some reason tattooing Jack was against "her people," so after he made her mark him as "he walks amongst us though is not one of us," he was basically kicked out of the country.

- Kate feels guilty about sleeping with Sawyer, he thinks she only did it because she thought he was going to die, drama/tension ensues...

- Everyone the Others have kidnapped (to have a "better" life as Carl says...wonder if that comes from the brainwashing) is healthy and happy. We see them staring at Jack in his cage like he's a zoo animal. One of the flight stewardesses is there and says they came to "watch"...watch what?? The kids are there too, all dressed well and weirded out by Jack yelling at them to leave. I'm hoping they explain what they've been doing all this time someday...

- The Others' law system follows the "eye for an eye" mentality. Juliette helped Kate and Sawyer escape by killing Danny, so she goes on trial where the end result would be her execution. It's obvious Jack cares about her because he agrees to be Ben's beck-and-call doctor in order to save her life. The show ends (with honestly quite a cheesy slow-mo montage) of Kate and Sawyer making their way back to camp and Jack and Juliette boating their way to where the Others live. I wonder if we'll get to see that next week...thoughts??

Episode 3.6 "I Do"

Ok I figure the best time to do a recap is while my heart is still pounding a mile a minute, so here goes! Wow that was a great episode, and good to see more backstory on Kate. What a surprise to see her open that case and look at a wedding veil, definitely not something I expected from her. Come to find out Kate's getting married the next day...to Kevin...a police officer...who thinks her name is Monica...talk about doomed. She looks so happy at her wedding, it really looks like she loves this guy, his family loves her, and she becomes Holly-Housewife...obviously something's not right.

We see a little of John and the losties at the Pearl giving Eko their last respects. To bury him John says he's going back to camp, which Sayid somehow knew was a lie and they took a detour, but to where?? John gets Eko's "Jesus stick" (thank you Charlie) and while pounding it into his grave, stating that he hopes to find the reason for Eko's death soon, he suddenly sees an etching that looks to be telling John to lift up his eyes and look North...talk about cryptic. Any ideas what that means?

Let me just say how much I love Jack at his most bitter! Telling Ben the disappointment of Jack deciding not to do his spinal surgery is something he won't have to deal with long was GREAT. He knows the power he has now, and he's damn well gonna use it. Above the Hydra Kate and Sawyer are put to work again, breaking and hauling rocks for who-knows-what purpose. Alex breaks into the camp with some Bart Simpson action on the slingshot, and we learn the jackass who hates Sawyer so much is her "dad", so does that mean she thinks Colleen (dead lady) was her mom? I'm guessing she would have no idea who Danielle is or even that she exists. She screams at Kate that "they're gonna kill your boyfriend", which of course made me think which one?? They end up blackmailing Sawyer's life on Kate convincing Jack to do Ben's surgery (jerks). Jack and Kate's reunion was quite touching, you could see how happy they were to see each other, but Jack was not a happy boy when Kate told him why she was there. She decides it's best to try another escape attempt, still not knowing the cages are on candid camera. BTW I loved her calling him James, I think it totally took him off guard. He has to be honest that they can't escape since they're on ANOTHER island...ya think he could have also mentioned they were being taped, but at any rate they share quite a night together.

We also see Kate sharing a life with her hubby, even begging the U.S. Marshall to let her go free to live this new life, but after a pregnancy scare she just can't handle the lie anymore. I really did feel bad for her as she was telling Kevin the truth (after he drank his drugged lemonade of course). You can tell she loved him and that's why she had to leave. Does she really love Sawyer? She never admits it, though he actually tells her "I love you too" which surprised me...made me say aww and I got goosebumps. :)

Jack is let out of his cell (was that Alex's voice on the intercom and for what purpose?) He sees for himself Kate in Sawyer's arms and you just see his heart break. He doesn't trust Ben or Juliet and takes matters into his own hands during the surgery, making a fatal incision in Ben's kidney and bartering his life for Kate's freedom. It's sad that Jack doesn't realize they don't have anywhere to run, though I have to admit when Sawyer saw for himself they were on another island it didn't look THAT far away...swimmable perhaps.

Soooo, questions to ponder for the next few months... One of the big ones was when the annoying guy told his buddy that "Shepard wasn't on Jacob's list." Was Jacob one of their spys sent out after the plane crashed? Was this the list of "good" or "bad" people he's talking about? Where do you think the message on Eko's stick is leading John? Will the eyepatch dude come into the story? Would Jack go through with letting Ben die? Doing this probably screws any chance of them letting him go, so what will happen to him? Will Kate and Sawyer actually escape? Bring on the theories!

Episode 3.5 “The Cost of Living”

Well better late than never. :) Last week’s eppy opens on a flashback with Eko as a boy breaking into someone’s shed to get food for his hungry brother, Yemi. He’s caught by a nun who forces him to confess the sin of stealing, though he feels no guilt for trying to help his brother. We now see Eko in the present is dreaming about this, in addition to some memories we’ve already seen of him using his brother as a priest to help him smuggle out drugs, Yemi getting shot and Eko getting off scot free in his priest disguise. Charlie and Hurley are trying to care for Eko in a tent, when they leave Eko’s called awake by a creepy Yemi holding a lighter, telling him it’s time to confess and that “you know where to find me”. Next thing we know the tent is on fire, which Eko is saved from, but then disappears.

Open scene to Jack doing pull-ups (all the ladies say thank you :) ). Ben enters in his typical annoyingly suave style to take Jack to the shot-lady’s funeral, only to be thrown off by Jack quizzing him about his neck and how he’s feeling. Jack explains that he saw Ben’s x-rays and he has a fatal tumor that needs operating, which Ben denies.

Back at the camp, John says he thinks he can find Sawyer, Jack and Kate because Desmond revealed the hatch computer wasn’t just used for pushing a button, but also for communicating among hatches. He puts 2-and-2 together after Charlie says Eko was murmuring “my brother” that he’s returning to the small plane crash site which just so happens to be over The Pearl hatch. He decides to “kill two birds with one stone” by going after Eko and investigating The Pearl’s assets and is accompanied on his hunt by Sayid, Desmond and two new losties.

We next flashback to after Yemi is shot and Eko returns to his brother’s church, pretending to be a replacement priest. He meets a lady who works at the clinic and her son, the alter boy. Moving to the present, Eko stumbles through the forest and suddenly hallucinates hostile, bloody men, who he moves to kill and suddenly sees the alter boy. Eerily reminding us of Walt, the boy holds his finger up to his mouth to shush Eko, then says something (does anyone know what he said??) before disappearing. Another flashback shows a group of possible drug lords making their every-6-month scheduled stop to blackmail the town for 80% of their Red Cross vaccines. They ask Eko about Yemi, when he claims to not be afraid and turns his back on them, the leader shoots an innocent woman to prove his point. As present Eko stops for water, we see a reflection of black smoke, quickly fading away right before John & Co. show up.

Juliet pays Jack another visit with a homemade cheeseburger, revealing an ease and sense of humor developing between the two of them. They are interrupted by Ben requesting a private convo w/ Jack, in which he reveals their plan to “break him”, get him to trust them using Juliet, who just happens to be a Sarah look-alike, wanting him to feel invested in their group and in the end, wanting to save Ben’s life. He says all of that went to waste as soon as Jack saw his x-rays and figured out Ben is dying. Before walking out Ben reveals that two days after his spinal tumor was discovered, a spinal surgeon “fell out of the sky”, which to him is proof of God.

We return to The Pearl, where John stays with Eko by the plane. John tells Eko he saw a bright light, expecting Eko saw the same, which wasn’t the case. (Anyone else catch a Heaven/Hell reference with that?) Eko enters the wreck only to find Yemi’s body is gone, which John naturally blames on forest animals. In more flashbacks it’s revealed that Eko tried to get in on the vaccine scam by contacting a black market buyer. The drug lords find out and confront him in the church, where he defends himself by brutally killing them all and stumbles out of the church covered in their blood. Down in The Pearl the new lostie-gal discovers from the orientation video their might be other projects going on besides Dharma, and Sayid searches for another TV signal. He finds one looking into a computer room, then suddenly we see a man with an eye-patch on the screen who turns off the camera.

Again we see Jack in his prison room, Juliet enters claiming to be giving him a movie to watch, To Kill a Mockingbird. Jack protests, she compromises by turning down the volume and proceeds to explain how sorry she is and that Ben is “a great man” who deserves to live. The movie starts playing and we see her appear onscreen with a poster saying “Ignore everything I’m saying”. Through the silent posters she reveals that Ben is a liar, a very dangerous man and some of them want a change. She basically tells Jack to go through the surgery, make it look like they tried to save Ben’s life, but to have an “accident”, no one would ever know.

Our last flashback shows Eko leaving the church and it immediately being boarded up. The clinic woman tells him it’s no longer sacred and he owes Yemi a church (now we know why he was building one on the beach). In the forest he sees Yemi again, who leads him away from the plane. Eko confesses that he wants no forgiveness as he has not sinned, that he only did what was necessary to survive. Creepy Yemi then says “you speak to me as if I were your brother” and disappears. Eko runs after him, only to be confronted by the big bad smoke that throws him around like a rag doll, eventually killing him, but not before he can whisper to John that “you’re next”.

It appears Eko was killed in some sense by his demons, that the island made him pay for his past. Jack has a pretty big decision to make…I think his first instinct is to trust Juliet, but how can he after knowing she was part of the plan to manipulate him? And who the hell was eye-patch man?!? Discuss away friends, discuss away…

Episode 3.4 "Every Man for Himself"

The fact that I am lost about Lost is understandable, especially considering the happenings as of late. The stars of the show are being held captive by the Others- Why? Perhaps only the polar bear knows. Either way- the writers better get to the GD point or at least distract me with the most insanely outrageous twist or I threaten to… uh, okay, I will probably watch no matter what- even if space creatures take their turn on the island.

This is Kate- crying- because some Other is messing with Sawyers perfectly chiseled face. She gives in, says she loves him and the Other backs down. Huh, what? Why? Why ask her?

Long story short- Kate loves Sawyer (she doesn’t… or does she?) and she is small enough to fit through the bars of the cage. Sawyer got the crap kicked out of him- twice- and the Others tricked him into thinking they planted a heart-blowing pacemaker in his chest. In flashbacks we learn Sawyer cheated his way out of prison and oh yes, he has a daughter- named Clementine. So, they put the thingy in Sawyers ticker (apparently) and just before I am ready to take a nap, because really- Ben/Henry Gale takes Sawyer for a little stroll. PEOPLE- there are 2 islands! TWO! One, where the others live and one that lays house to all the crash survivors. WHAT? The thought the Others lived on the other side of the island! No wonder they needed to get the boat away from Jin, Sun and Sayid. Hmmm, but I still don't understand the point of showing Sawyer. Help!

Jack scrubs in for surgery on the Other who was shot by Sun last week. She dies on the operating table and Jack gets a glimpse of some X-rays- someone’s got a spinal tumor and I will give you one guess who- he’s smarmy and wears plaid. HAHAHAHA!

Back on the beach, Desmond is in need of a padded room. This dude is bonkers. Nuts! Seriously! After asking Claire if he can fix her roof- which isn’t broken- he borrows a golf club from the new guy (hot!) and rigs up some sort of experiment. Lightening strikes and a large bolt of electricity zaps the club. But what is the GD point? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN!!???

Locke and Eko were no shows- but Charlie said something about Eko being blown to bits by the hatch. Hello? Was Charlie not with Locke when he rescued Eko? Why would Charlie say that?

Next week the new kids on the island discover one of the observation rooms and someone is clearly observing them.

Episode 3.3 "Further Instructions"

YAHOO!! Locke is back! Oh, how I missed T O'Q. Missed. Him. But, um, kay, I’m Lost (pun intended). What the sam hell is going on? Locke is launched out of the hatch when it implodes (you should have pressed the GD button) and wakes up without a voice. He stumbles back to camp and begins building a sweat lodge. I am telling you, Charlie is not the only one confused here! I expected chanting and whispers of the dead and by gollie- I got it! Once inside the lodge (and after eating some mashed up yuckiness) Boone appears. YES! Dead Boone! Boone whisks him away in a wheel chair and shows him shadows of his many island friends. Locke has gotta find out who to save and how to clean up the mess he’s made. I loved the return of Boone! I loved the trippy dream at the airport, but what does it all mean?

Locke emerges from the sweat lodge on a mission to find Mr. Eko. He has to make things right, and right would mean saving the man who was right all along. Charlie decides to tag along. In and out, we flash back to Locke’s life before the ill-fated crash. We see him driving an old pick up truck and pulling over for a hitchhiker. The young hitch is looking to escape from an abusive father, so Locke takes him back to what I can only describe as a cult compound. There we meet John’s “family.”

Setting off to save Eko, Locke is positive that the polar bear has him. Why? How does he know this? Because of his meeting with Boone? Wandering through the jungle, Charlie and Locke stumble upon Hurley, who is returning from the Other’s camp with the message to stay away. John instructs Hurley to go back to camp and give everyone the message. On the way, Hurley runs into Desmond, whose clothes have been blown off by the hatch implosion. Hilarious! HA! Desmond is able to coax Hurley out of a tie-dye shirt and the two hightail it back to the beach. But not before Desmond can reveal a small clue. When Hurley asks about saving Jack, Sawyer and Kate, Desmond is sure Locke will be off to save them next- he’ll even mention it in a speech. HUH? WHAT?

Back to Locke’s past- So, it looks like the compound houses a bunch of fruit-picking, free-loving hippies and it does (complete with a greenhouse dedicated to a certain illegal bud). Locke’s little hitchhiker wants in on the pot production, but the compound “parents” discover that the hitch is actually a cop. Crapper! Locke has endangered the whole operation. To correct the problem, he lures the hitch-snitch out to the woods and plans to shoot him, but Locke can’t pull the trigger.

Charlie and Locke pass by a dark cave on the hunt for the preacher, and Locke is certain that Eko is inside. He rigs up a torch and heads in. Sure enough, Locke finds the bones of several
other sacrificial islanders, and there is Eko! Just has he is about to be snacked on, Locke burns the bear and gets away with a wounded Eko. Back at camp, we find two newcomers (Kiele Sanchez and Rodrigo Santoro) who are oddly interested in Locke’s return and the realization that Jack, Sawyer and Kate are missing- not to mention Sayid, Jin and Sun. And then- THEN- Locke gives a little SPEECH about going after the love trifecta. This freaks Hurley out and calls into question Desmond’s position on the island. Is he an Other? Perhaps he defected?

This episode threw me for a loop! Where are they taking us? What is going on? How will the newcomers play into the plan to rescue Jack, Sawyer and Kate (who I have decided to call JSK)? In regards to Locke’s past- perhaps the compound is raided- perhaps there is gun fire and Locke is hit, hence the wheel chair? I can’t wait to see what happens next, I just hope it doesn’t give me a headache!

"The Glass Ballerina" episode recap

Just when you thought some questions might start to be answered about this crazy island and its mysterious inhabitants, BAM! We’re hit with more perplexing characters and story lines. So let’s try to make some sense of this…

It’s Sun’s story this time around on Lost, and her tale reveals a side of both Jin and Sun that we haven’t encountered yet. Sun’s infidelities with Jae Lee are brought to light by Sun’s overprotective father, who then instructs Jin to “take care” of Jae Lee, but for unknown reasons to Jin. And the plot just gets steamier.

We’re catapulted back to the island via Desmond’s sailboat, on which Sayid, Jin and Sun are searching for Jack and the crew. But Sayid knows more than he’s saying, and conducts a plan to trap the others with a decoy fire and hopefully find the captured Jack, Kate and Sawyer. We also learn through this exchange that Jin does indeed understand English and might possibly have for some time.

Back to Kate and Sawyer, the tension is palpable as the two are led from their respective cages and instructed to begin “rock harvesting” (as my roommate called it) for no apparent reason. Things get physical as one of the others carries out his threat to electrocute Sawyer, as he and Kate visibly concede to their fate. But while Kate is axing rocks, a familiar face emerges from the bushes. Rousseau’s daughter appears and asks Kate if she’s seen a boy in one of the cages and tell Kate that the dress she’s wearing is hers. It’s a cryptic exchange and is possibly setting us up for more encounters with Rousseau’s daughter in the future… possibly a savior for our captured castaways? Shortly after that, Sawyer instigates a scuffle with the Others and we later realize that he was doing so in order to better evaluate the fighting strengths of each Other. Oh, and did I mention that Sawyer plants a big steamy kiss on Kate?

Back at the shore, Sayid and Jin are hiding in wait for the Others while Sun stays aboard the boat, but the plan goes awry. The Others take over the boat, and after Sun shoots one of the Others, she jumps ship. Her watery reunion with a distraught Jin coincides with the conclusion of Jin and Sun’s story: Jin follows Jae Lee to his hotel room and roughs him up, stopping just short of killing him. Later, when Jin goes to get in his car, a body falls from the sky, landing on his hood. It’s Jae Lee, and it’s not evident if Jae Lee has fallen or been pushed. Nevertheless, he’s dead.

We see little of Jack in this episode, but what we do see is a puzzling admission from Ben, who tells Jack, “My name is Benjamin Lynus. And I have lived on this island my whole life.” Throughout the episode, we also see the Others call the castaways by their full and real names, seeming to know intimate details of each person.

The episode ends much like it started: with hundreds of questions swimming through our heads, Kate, Jack and Sawyer in captivity and Sayid, Jin and Sun on a desperate search to rescue them. Let’s just hope that next week sheds a little more light on our ill-fated friends!

Lost Season 3 Premiere "A Tale of Two Cities"

I’ll have to say it. I’m a bit perplexed by the Season 3 premiere. I was expecting a lot more “holy craps!” to escape from my mouth, but instead those were replaced with “huh?”

So let’s get into it. We last left our trusty castaways at the dock, where the Others’ leader, Henry Gale, has held them captive. Michael and Walt have fled in a small boat, and Hurley has run back to the camp, presumably to find help for the captured Kate, Jack and Sawyer.

But before we even get back to where we left off in the finale, J.J. Abrams and his crew of crazies have something else in store for us. The show opens with a pretty blond woman (who we later learn is Juliette, a mysterious Other) leading a book club meeting with a group of friends. At this point, I’m grabbing for the remote, thinking I’ve got the wrong channel and have happened upon a boring new NBC show. But nope! It’s Lost, and the turn this story line takes is, for lack of a better word, creepy.

As the group is meeting, the room starts to shake and thinking it’s an earthquake, they all run out of the house. This is where we see two recognizable faces: Henry Gale (who’s name is actually Ben, but I will continue to call Henry in this recap) and Ethan Rom. What the…? Our attention is quickly drawn to the sky, as a plane careens towards the earth, splitting into pieces on its descent. It’s eerily familiar, and we realize that we’re watching the doomed castaways plummet to the earth, but from the perspective of this group of seemingly normal suburban inhabitants. But this isn’t the suburbs… it’s the island, and this book club is more Others than Oprah. And here’s where my skin starts to crawl: Henry looks over to Ethan, and in a calm and calculated demeanor instructs him to run to the shore, find the wreckage, and start a list. Holy… what?

My blood is pumping at this point, my mouth open in surprise as the show cuts to commercial. But when it comes back, I become a little disappointed. The show gets a little boring from here on out.

We catch up with Jack, Sawyer and Kate and get a glimpse into their captivity. All three of them are in separate quarters and seem to have been drugged. Sawyer is taken to a bear cage, Kate is told to shower and put on a pretty dress and Jack is being held captive in an interrogation room-looking area.

The creepiest captivity story is that of Kate, who after putting on a frilly dress goes to the beach to meet with Henry for breakfast. He then cryptically tells her “the next two weeks are going to be very difficult.” But why? Are experiments going to be performed on her, Jack and Sawyer?

We head back to Jack in captivity, and learn that this is “his” episode. Flashbacks start to tell us the story of his less-than-amicable divorce with his wife, his father’s alcohol problems, and the fact that his father might have been dipping his pen in the in-law ink. But has he? Jack is sure of it, and even goes as far as following him to an AA meeting and assaulting him.

This is where we then meet Juliette, a seemingly compassionate Other is keeping a close eye on Jack. We find out that he is actually being held in the Hydra Station, which was used for holding dolphins and sharks. (And what with the polar bear and black horse in previous episodes, I’m starting to think we’re in a demented zoo.) But Juliette is creepier than she looks. She knows everything about Jack, down to the medical details of his father’s death. But why?

Cut back to Sawyer in the bear cage, and we discover that a large “food” button might not be what it seems, and after a failed attempt to escape, Sawyer finagles the machine to finally pop out a fish biscuit. Okay, what?

At the end of the episode, Kate is deposited in a cage opposite Sawyer and the loving and desperate looks between them break my heart! And in the fish tank, Jack has finally come to grips with his captivity, but not with the mysterious stranger who knows everything about him.

You’re maybe starting to notice a pattern of confusion coming from this Lost-loving blogger. So here is my Top 5 “What the hecks?” from the Season 3 premiere. I’m expecting some good discussion on this, so comment your hearts out!

1) In the opening sequence we see the Others’ house, complete with all the amenities. What else is possibly on this island? A Club Med perhaps?
2) What was Henry Gale referring to with his “two weeks…” comment? Are experiments about to be performed, or are they possibly going to be brainwashed?
3) In the bear cage opposite Sawyer is a young boy who asks “where is your plane?” Did this boy land on the island in a similar way to the castaways? Was he on their plane perhaps?
4) Where was everyone else? Amid cries of my roommate screaming “where the hell is Terry O’Quinn?” I started to really miss the old bastard.
5) Who are the Others? Did they possibly crash on the island years ago and start a colony, or are the indeed members of the Dharma Initiative?

I've decided to start a new thread regarding the future of Michael and Walt. To our Lost bloggers' confusion, it appears that Michael and Walt will not be returning to Lost... at least not for next season. Below is the article:

'Lost's' Michael sets sail for new roles

Actor Harold Perrineau says he won't be back on "Lost" when it returns in the fall.

"As of so far, I am not back next season," says the actor whose character, Michael, sailed off with his son, Walt, during the ABC show's May 24 finale. "I am not off the show, but I am not back next season … and I may not ever be back."

Perrineau, who has been central to the "Lost" story line in recent weeks, says he is free to pursue other work. He is no longer under contract with "Lost." He says producers told him weeks ago that he was being written off the show.

However, he says he also knew of a story line idea in which Michael, once he gets home, attempts to get back to the island. Apparently that story line is not planned for next season, he says.

"I have no idea what is going on now," he says.

The actor, whose credits include the HBO series "Oz" and the "Matrix" films, says he and his family have left Hawaii, where "Lost" is shot. He is now in New York City and mulling offers.

In the season finale, Michael and Walt were reunited before leaving the island on a boat.

In recent episodes, Michael shocked viewers by murdering two newcomers, Ana Lucia and Libby (Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros), and leading others into a trap.

When Michael departed the island, he left behind three of the show's most popular characters — Jack, Kate and Sawyer — who were being held captive by a mysterious group called the Others living on the other side of the island.

It was not clear whether Michael and Walt were actually going to leave the island and go home (as the Others had instructed them to do) or if they'd go back to their camp to get help.

"I watched the show, and even I was confused," says Perrineau.

"Sometimes what we get in the script is not what we see on the screen."
He says the parting shot of Michael and Walt leaving the island was "very clear" in the script.

"There was no doubt we were . . . going home," Perrineau says. "But when I watched it, I thought, 'Well, does he get off the island?'

"'Is he going to go out a couple of miles (into the sea) and turn around, come back and get help (for the hostages)?' Come on. Even I was confused by what I saw."

Perrineau says he was "a little confused" when producers told him that Michael was being written off.

"They explained to me how cool it was for someone to actually get off the island," he says. "It is cool, but it's not exactly what I saw in terms of the story."

My thoughts? I'm a little disappointed with this outcome...

It seems like an easy "out" for the writers in terms of Michael's story. His back story was getting a little dull, but come on! You can't tell us all this crap about Walt's powers and the creepy "experiments" (not to mention Walt's exclamation of "they're pretending!" in the finale) and then get rid of his character! This doesn't jive with me.

Although I can't say I'm too surprised. I had heard a few months back that they were getting rid of the Walt character because the actor who plays him was growing up too quickly, and given that the show happens in "real time", it wouldn't work. They also didn't want to replace him with a younger actor, because... well, that wouldn't make sense. (Remember the "New Becky" on Roseanne? Not cool.)

So let the discussion begin!

Hey everyone! Feel free to keep leaving comments and conspiracy theories on the previous finale post, but I wanted to create a new thread to discuss a few details of the finale. So here they are:

Discussion Topic #1:

While Locke was determined to stay in the hatch for the countdown to prove that the button was a hoax, why didn't Desmond stop him to tell him it was real? Was Desmond on a suicide mission from the start, or did he still think the button was harmless?

Discussion Topic #2:

Pretend you're Hurley, and you've just been let go by the Others, as Jack, Kate and Sawyer stay helplessly tied up. Do you head back to your group and form a rescue party, or do you leave it up to the dynamic trio to free themselves?

'Live Together, Die Alone" Finale Recap by AL and GS

As the episode begins, we see Jack, Sawyer and Sayid wading out to the boat… and to our almost delight, we discover that it is definitely not a rescue. After hearing rumors that Desmond was to return to the island, I wasn’t surprised that the boat bobbing offshore was piloted by none other than the mysterious Scot. I was, however, surprised to see him wallowing at the bottom of the cabin, nursing a bottle of booze.

And so it begins… what we have all been anticipating. The Lost Season 2, finale. Unfortunately, a lot of questions weren’t answered, and so many more questions were posed. So let’s discuss….

In flashbacks, we finally discover what brought Desmond to the island. His flashback begins as he is exiting a military prison, dishonorably discharged for an unknown reason. As he leaves the prison, he is confronted by a mysterious looking black car, with an even more mysterious Englishman in the backseat. We learn that letters that Desmond has sent to someone named “Penny” haven’t reached their destination, and that the mysterious Englishman is Penny’s father. In another flashback, and in true Lost style, we find a familiar face. The late Libby bumps into him in an airport coffee shop, and after some almost flirtatious banter, we learn a few things; Libby has a husband who died a month earlier, and Desmond is going on a sailing quest around the world, to earn the love of Penny and the respect of her father. To Desmond’s surprise and luck, Libby happens to have a boat named “Elizabeth” that once belonged her husband, and she is willing to give it Desmond.

For the castaways, the arrival of Desmond means answers, but it turns out that Desmond is just as lost as everyone else.

Meanwhile, Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley and Michael head into the jungle. After Sayid letting Jack know of his suspicions of Michael, the tension in the group is palpable. Not far into the journey, Kate realizes they are being followed, and shoots at two of the Others. This puts into question the safety of the journey, and Jack outs Michael for his dangerous intentions. He confesses to the group his deal with the Others, as well as confesses to the murders of Libby and Ana Lucia.

We head back to some flashbacks of Desmond, which play out like this; Desmond washes ashore after his boat hits a storm, and is towed back to the hatch by a mysterious man in a yellow hazmat suit. And here we meet Inman, an inhabitant of the hatch and if you recall, the same Army intelligence officer who coerced Sayid into torturing his former friend. Inman is now part (willingly or unwillingly) of the Dharma Initiative, and it turns out he’s not too fond of the program. (Note that he draws the “map” on one of the closed steel doors with detergent, which shows up with the help of a black light. What is this map?) He attempts to escape using Desmond’s boat, but is caught by Desmond, and accidentally killed. But the most important thing we learn in the flashback is that Desmond learns that the button in the hatch is in fact real. And the cataclysmic events that could transpire if the button is not pushed are just as real, too.

So now that leaves Desmond… who after being cast ashore once again, is back where he started: in the hatch. The always-curious Locke latches on to Desmond, hoping to get some answers about the hatch, and tells him of his theory that the button is not real. (And by the way, why didn’t Desmond just stop him there, and let him know that the button is legit?) So Locke hatches (no pun intended) a plan to overthrow Eko, who is reigning in the hatch after embarking on his new crusade to babysit the button. The plan goes like this: Locke has Desmond connect some wires, which cause the steel doors to close once again. Locke then wants to sit in the hatch until countdown ends, and prove to himself and the others that the button is nothing more than a social experiment, drawn up by the kooks at Dharma.

Meanwhile, Sayid and his group of merry men are rounding the island when they discover...a foot. A ginormous foot. Now, I am all for the mysteries of the island, but a foot? Not really scary-smelly-but not scary. The group ponders where the rest of the statue might be and continues on their journey. When Sayid approaches the Others camp he finds it desserted. There is even a fake looking hatch! What the heck is going on!!??

Let’s check back in with Jack and friends. On their journey, they stumble upon the notebooks from the Pearl hatch. Apparently the observations scribbled in the little notebooks don't mean jack- as the gang finds thousands of those bank tubes dumped in the middle of nowhere. Just then the group sees Syid's signal- thick black smoke rising above the trees. Then, like a scene from Gilligan's Island, the group is hit by poisonous darts and dragged away by the Others. How creepy was that? All those raggamuffin island folk swarming around? Ewww. Kate calls them out on their little costumes and the freaks haul them off to the beach.

And look who's leading the fold- Henry Gale! That smarmy little Other the group had all locked up is ruling the roost! Henry holds to his word and hands Walt and a boat over to Michael. Michael hops aboard without a moments hesitation. Gale releases Hurley-telling him to head back to the beach and tell the rest of the survivors to stay way from this side of the island. Now, only the love triangle remains tied up-Jack, Kate and Sawyer.

Time is ticking down in the hatch, and Locke is getting a little antsy. Eko heads to the beach and recruits Charlie to help him blow open the hatch. Their attempt fails, as Desmond is starting to put 2 and 2 together. The last time the button wasn't pushed something terrible happened- the crash of the Oceanic Flight. While reading over pages and pages of numbers and dates- Desmond discovers that his last minute button pushing had caused some sort of magnetic craziness, causing the aircraft carrying the survivors to crash down on the island. HOLY CRAP! What an awesome explaination!!

3-2-1 the clock winds down and forks start flying. Locke then realizes that he has made a huge mistake. Desmond rummages around for the fail-safe key, he wiggles down under the floor boards- says a sweet goodbye to Penny and flips the switch! There is a large white flash and a loud humming vibration that takes over the entire island. When it subsides, Charlie wanders out of the jungle- minus Locke and Ecko. What happened? Where are they? Are they dead? Is Desmond dead? I am so confused.

We are left with an even more perplexing scene: Desmond's lost love, Penny is alerted after a magentic occurence. Is she tracking down Desmond, or the anomaly of the magnetic hatch?

Way to go, Lost... now I'll be sleepless until September, wondering what the heck is going on! So, any thoughts anyone?

Okay okay, so it's 24 hours later, and I'm FINALLY doing a recap! So here goes:

Michael's "Lost" Time

It's flashback time again on the island, but this time, we finally discover what happened to Michael during his 13 days away from the group. He was immediately captured by the Others after venturing out on his journey to find Walt. And if you know your Lost episodes, you should have recognized a few of the faces of the Others. Such as Alex, Danielle's (the French Woman's) daughter, who we first met in the episode "Maternity Leave", as well as Mr. Friendly (scruffy bearded old guy), one of the Others aboard the boat that kidnapped Walt.

So Michael is taken to the Others' camp, where we find out that he wasn't exactly lying to Jack about their living conditions. It appears that they do indeed live in tents, with a heavily guarded hatch. Upon Michael's arrival, he is introduced to a Ms. Klugh, who immediately begins questioning him about Walt. She wants to know if Walt has ever "appeared in places he wasn't supposed to be", prompting us to recall Walt's "powers" from season one, and his creepy backwards-speaking appearances in the jungle. Things are starting to make sense now as to why Walt might have been captured in the first place.

Finally, after imprisoning Michael for a week, Ms. Klugh gives him what he is looking for: Walt. For three minutes. Now this is where things get interesting, because the desperate screams from Walt are cryptic and troubling. He says that they make him take tests, and that they're "pretending" (remember the ragged costumes that Kate found in the Hospital Hatch?). Ms. Klugh threatens to put him back in the "room", and after breaking free to hug Michael, he's taken away. The whole scene evokes so many questions. Is Walt a part of the Others' plot against Jack and the crew? Has he been brainwashed? Are the Others using Walt's powers for experimental gain?

After Walt leaves, Ms. Klugh gets down to business. She has a proposition for Michael, and we know exactly where this leads him. She says that a member of their group (Henry Gale) has been captured by Michael's people, and that Michael must free him in order for him and Walt to be set free. However, there's more to this trade... she wants Michael to bring back with him only four people; Kate, Jack, Sawyer and Hurley. The four people who followed Michael's trail on his quest for Walt, and were subsequently captured, stripped of their weapons, and let go by the Others.

Michael isn't stupid, and he knows that bringing these four people to the Others is sure to lead to their capture and possible deaths. But he is a desperate father, with a terrified son... and he will do anything to free Walt. Even if it means leading his fellow castaways into a death trap. Michael is quick to accept the offer, and asks for a boat as well.

I think what shocked me at this point, was that Michael acted on his own recognizance in the murder of Ana Lucia and Libby. This makes their deaths that much more heart-wrenching, knowing how unnecessary it was for Michael to kill them. One can't help but envision ways Michael could have freed Henry Gale without having to kill two innocent people.

Meanwhile, Back at the Beach...

It is present day, and Michael is hard at work hand-picking the few that will venture with him into the jungle to rescue Walt. Now that we know his motivation, we see a desperate Michael becoming uneasy and unstable, making sure to follow Ms. Klugh's specific instructions to ensure the return of Walt. Michael has become a man possessed. This is no longer playing-with-the-dog, raft-building Michael. His motives are calculated and desperate, and his sanity hanging on by a thread.

Amidst the tension of preparing for the rescue mission, there are several sub-plots. Claire and Charlie are once again speaking, and Charlie even offers up an immunization kit for Claire and the baby (which, by the way, looks extremely suspect, and will probably come back to haunt Charlie). Charlie also "just says no" to the Mother Mary, heaving the heroin-filled statues into the water. Mr. Eko is continuing on his mysterious mission, this time insisting that the hatch is the place he needs to be. This upsets a church-building Charlie, who is becoming increasingly wary of Eko and his unexplained ambitions. Hurley is preparing to bury and mourn his almost-girlfriend (damn, Hurley... you were so close!) Libby. His devastation is touching, and gives us a steady reminder as to the lethal capabilities of Michael. Jin and Sun aren't seen much throughout this episode, and are probably off fishing and coming up with baby names.

Michael's efforts to carry out Ms. Klugh's wishes hit some speedbumps, when Sayed insists on joining the group. An impassioned Michael pleads with him to not go, saying that it is a mission to find his son, and he will not have it thwarted by a revenge-seeker. Sayed concedes, yet remains suspicious of Michael. Michael then has another challenge, when a mourning Hurley refuses to go.

This leads us to our final scene on the beach. The group is gathering to mourn Ana Lucia and Libby, but not before Sayed voices his concerns about Michael to Jack, and Hurley agrees to join Michael on the expedition for Walt.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot the boat! A sailboat approaches the shore during the funeral, and the group is both wary and excited of the approaching vessel. So who is on it? It is one of the others? Is it a rescue? Or is it Desmond, the creepy stranger who ditched the hatch at the beginning of season two?

Of course, this episode leaves us with tons of questions:

-Will Jack and his crew fall into Michael's trap?
-What is Eko's new mission in the hatch? And who is calling him to do these tasks?
-Has Walt been brainwashed by the others?
-What does the sailboat hold for the castaways?

Oh, and I went to the website from the Hanso Foundation commercial, www.letyourcompassguideyou.com. Very interesting and creepy! A map briefly pops up behind the compass, so I took a screen shot of the website. What do you think?

I don't know about you guys, but i think tonight's episode is going to rock! Let's just hope it answers some tough questions, such as:

(1) What is up with Michael? Is he merely acting as a desperate father, looking for his son? Or have the others brainwashed him into killing Jack and the crew?

(2) Will Eko's prophetic dreams continue, as him and Locke look for more "?" clues?

(3) Where is hatch #6? Are the others inhabiting it? We know Michael was lying about the others "living in tents", with Kate and Claire's discovery of the "Hospital Hatch"(Episode "Maternity Leave").

(4) And finally, what about the rest of the castaways? The last few episodes revolved around only a handful of the cast. I want to know what's going on with Jin, Sun, Claire, and Charlie.

And, just for your reading enjoyment, i was browing some sites for tonight's episode, and one viewer's review of tonight's episode was rather... umm... drug induced? enjoy:

I really liked this episode of Lost. It was good. Michal Vaughn returned in a surprise cameo from J J's other show, The X-Files, and the Others are revealed to be dinosaurs. This is a clever plot twist as we've come to expect from Lost, and I liked it alot.

Episode 2:21 "?" by SRG

I love how inter- related Lost and Alias have been the last couple weeks, this episode could have totally been called "I See Dead People" too. Let's get right to it!

I Dream of Yemi
Seems like Eko's brother is in everyone's dreams! We start out with Eko getting a sort of psychic dream where he sees Ana shot and dying telling him to help John (this is before anyone knew she was dead btw), followed by Yemi in the hatch telling Eko to help John find the question mark and bring his axe. Upon waking up he immediately sets out to find John and meets up with Sawyer, Jack and Kate on their way back to the hatch. A shot Michael bursts out of the hatch claiming when he woke up that Henry had a gun and shot Ana, Libby and himself. Shocked, everyone rushes into the hatch to find Ana dead. They assume Libby is as well until she suddenly spits up blood (anyone else reminded of Kill Bill?), which freaks out Michael. Eko volunteers to go after Henry and asks John to come because of his tracking experience.

While in the jungle Eko asks John about the question mark, head butts him for "being difficult" and finally gets John to relay the story of the "?" diagram he saw on the hatch door. Eko believes the drawing to be a map and they end up following it back to the crashed plane Yemi died in. They make camp for the night and John dreams he's Eko being lead up the cliffside by Yemi to something at the top. When John awakes Eko can tell he had a prophetic dream which John describes, so Eko promptly climbs his way to the top of the cliff. At first he sees nothing, then looks down at John and realizes a sort of crop circle "?" is etched into the ground with the plane covering the bottom. After pushing the plane out of the way and digging, the two find the entrance to another hatch, "Station 5: The Pearl", a monitoring facility for the other hatches. The Pearl's orientation video reveals the work in the other hatches to be nothing more than a psychological experiment, a truth that breaks John's faith in the Island, but increases Eko's. From the flashbacks we learn of Eko's time pretending to be a priest and how he was assigned to investigate a supposed "miracle" of a girl coming back to life. I think he started to believe the miracle was true until the girl's father dismissed it as mistaken hypothermia and doctor negligence. It wasn't until the girl found Eko at the airport before Oceanic flight 815 took off and told him about a message she had for him from Yemi that he started to find his faith. Knowing the dreams he and John had led them to The Pearl increased his sense of purpose for being there and thinking there is a reason for all of it that will eventually be revealed.

Meanwhile Back At The Hatch...
Jack knows he can't save Libby and puts Sawyer on the spot about giving up the heroine Mary dolls to make her comfortable, thus revealing where he's also storing the guns. Kate goes with him and discovers that Sawyer has been hiding everything under his shelter the entire time. On their way out they run into Hurley who asks if they've seen Libby...Kate has to break the harsh news about the shooting. Jack injects Libby with the heroine to ease her pain and she suddenly wakes up looking worried. She manages to say "Michael", to which Jack and Hurley assure her Michael's ok. This only makes her more frantic and she dies with her eyes and mouth open in a frightful panic. The episode closes on a slow zoom-in on Michael, looking very evil and creepy.

Interesting Tidbits
Anyone else recognize the father of the "miracle" girl? Yup, that was Claire's psychic who told her she must raise her baby and made her take flight 815. With her flashback story he seemed pretty legit, but he told Eko that he made his living as a fraud, that he dug up dirt on people and used it to exploit them. So how did he know Claire taking flight 815 would force her to raise her baby because of the crash?

"Rats in a maze with no cheese", I thought that was a great quote from John after he learned the Dharma Initiative was nothing more than a mind game. Anyone else check out www.sublymonal.com?

Something to ponder...we saw that The Pearl had monitoring videos of The Swan's hatch, does that mean there's video evidence of Michael shooting Ana and Libby? Also, if the monitoring station is Station 5, what is Station 6?

Looks like next week Michael manages to convince everyone they can take on The Others and rescue Walt and the bearded crazy guy is back. We still don't know if Michael is brainwashed or just fullfilling some sort of deal...now I'm thinking the latter, but that just makes me more angry with him. I feel weird saying this since I hated her in the beginning, but I'm actually going to miss Ana a little bit, and I definitely feel sorry for Hurley that he lost Libby. Will he ever find out she was in the same mental hospital as him? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

LOST Night

Michael is in charge! After last weeks shocker- I have no idea what to expect tonight- aside from more SHOCK! Stay tuned for an episode recap!

Two for the Road by SRG

I don’t know about you guys, but the shocker endings of both Lost and Alias caused me some major problems trying to fall asleep last night! Here’s a little summary of the events surrounding the characters:

Anna Lucia Flashbacks
Covering her tracks well, Anna made the murder of her attacker practically anonymous, but her mother/Captain knew otherwise. Scared that her mom knew her secret, Anna runs away to Australia with a guy she met at the bar…a guy who just happens to be Jack’s drunk of a father. He claims he needs her “protection” for a task he needs to do over there. Whether or not they were lovers is unclear, I’m thinking they might have been drunken lovers, but they had separate hotel rooms, what do you guys think? She drives him to a house where he confronts a woman and claims he wants to see his daughter…who knows what that was about. Anna decides she’s had enough of her time with him and wants to go home, so she leaves him at a bar (where he eventually meets Sawyer) and books Oceanic Flight 815 to fly home. Does anyone else notice a theme of Jack’s dad being involved with many of the characters?

Locke
John wakes up to the sound of Henry attacking and trying to kill Anna. He saves her life by hitting Henry over the head with one of his crutches. Later on, John is perplexed as to why Henry tried to kill Anna when he could have easily hurt or killed John when he was trapped under the door. Henry claims that John is one of the “good ones” and his mission was to bring John back to his people. You can tell John is very intrigued by these words, but isn’t able to ask Henry more about it because Jack and Kate shout for his help as they bring in Michael unconscious.

Michael
After waking up, Michael claims that he found the Others and they’re living worse off than the crash victims. Other than having their own hatch, where he believes the children including Walt are being held, he says they’re basically defenseless and would be easily defeated. Later on he gets up from resting to find Anna upset holding the gun she stole away from Sawyer by seducing him. She explains that she couldn’t bring herself to shoot Henry and Michael says he’ll do it, so she gives him the gun and the lock combination for the cell door. It’s the last thing she ever does…Michael says “I’m sorry” and shoots her in the stomach. Unfortunate Libby walks in on the scene as she’s getting wine for a picnic with Hurley, and in his shock Michael shoots her as well. He opens the cell door, looks at Henry, and shoots himself in the shoulder. THE END

Extremely shocking turn of events at the end, I was totally blown away (no pun intended)! At first I thought Michael killed himself, but from the previews for next week, it looks like he shot himself to make it look like he was also a victim and frame Henry for the shootings. There are at least two possible theories about why he did this…first he could have been brainwashed by the Others to turn on the crash victims. It’s possible that he’s leading them into a trap by saying the Others are defenseless and they should take them. OR he’s fulfilling some kind of deal he made with the Others to get Walt back. He looked extremely shocked at what he had just done when he shot Anna and Libby…if he had been turned evil you’d think he wouldn’t have looked so disturbed by his actions. Some questions I’ve come up with are why they would reveal Libby’s truth about being in the same mental hospital as Hurley and then kill her? Or that Anna was only in Australia because of Jack’s dad, then kill her? It was like finding out Jack was basically responsible for Shannon’s dad dying, then she died too. They seem to be revealing interesting plots from the characters’ back stories and then promptly ending them with death, which I don’t understand. What do you guys think??

If you have ventured from Let's Talk Alias, then you are well aware of my obsession with intelligent television. You know I am a seeker of truth, an English major on a literary mission to turn all those who merely enjoy LOST, into well equipped, clue-collecting viewers. And if you are new- then you will soon learn all this about me.

Welcome to Let's Get LOST, the very near and dear sister of Let's Talk Alias. When Alias (the love of my life) is laid to rest in the ABC graveyard, I, and my room mate Amanda, will have plenty of time, energy and insight- which we will be focusing on JJ's current hit, LOST. I may not know enough about it now to comment on any particular theory- but I plan to "desert" my friends and family, become "stranded" in my home with the DVD's, take the "crash" course, not give in to the pressures of "Others" and become an A1 bonafide encyclopedia of LOST.
